About this listen

Sam Czerny’s career as a xenobiologist was relegated to studying strange life forms deep in the oceans. Then a Chinese mining facility discovers an unusual artifact on the far side of the moon. A device which could change the way humanity sees itself and its place in the galaxy. Sam finds himself on the project of his dreams only to get caught up in a sudden war between the US and China. A war that prevents the two governments from noticing an even more dangerous arrival.

Don't go throwing rocks from the moon!

I really liked this story. I liked how it used a couple of different ideas and brought them all together to make the story unique. I thought the plot was going one way and then it took a turn that I was not expecting, which is always fun in a book. I would recommend this one if you like a space adventure with some political intrigue mixed in. Neat ending that leaves room for more story to be told.

A Great Story

I listen to a lot of audiobooks and this one will stand out. The characters were well thought out alrhough the voices were a little corny, at one point the main charater sounded exactly like the late Kasey Kasem.
Well worth the money.

Love this book!

This book was recommended by a friend. I like to listen in my car. I found myself returning home and sitting in my driveway until the chapter was finished. Sequel? Please!!

Good idea poorly executed

Female dialogue came off as childish and whiny. Reader can’t do accents at all. Black characters sounded like minstrel caricatures. Lots of American voices were nasal. Foreign accents where so bad as to be accidentally racist. I am certain the reader did not intend that to be the case, he just didn’t know how to do them correctly.

Good Story, Lousy Voice Acting

I would rather read this book. about two-thirds of the way through the audiobook, I finally had to stop listening because of the inept voice acting. it was alternately annoying and insulting. The reader needs to stick to doing American male voices. His women's voices are overwraught and the Chinese voices are Charlie Chan-style caricatures - I am frankly astounded that the product was released this way in this day and age. The fact that the voices are unintentionally bad in no way makes them easier to listen to. It is a shame when an otherwise enjoyable story is ruined this way through no fault of the author. Sorry, Roman! I gave it a go, as promised. Maybe if I get a chance, I'll read it on my Kindle instead.

Needed Editing

My big gripe with the story are the many convenient contrivances with no background and no explanation. Protector miraculously siphoning energy and the like. Nothing an editor couldn’t have caught. Story was pretty good, a 3, performance was better. This author needs an editor.

Difficult to listen to

I could not listen any further than about 1/4 way into the story. A combination of the author's youthful speech of all of the women and the narrator's portrayal of them made them sound like schoolgirls instead of the professional adults that they were. Too annoying to continue.

Painful dialogue

The dialogue between characters is rigid and unnatural, which distracts from an interesting storyline that had potential. It was honestly painful to listen to at times when certain characters interacted. I’ll concede that this could be due to the way it was narrated, but still, there were multiple times I wanted to check if the author was still in middle school to make sure I wasn’t getting frustrated with a child writing his first book.
