About this listen

One last fling (with danger) before the ring?

Nothing's that simple when you're a geek girl. Julie Moffett's beloved Lexi Carmichael mystery series returns with No Questions Asked.

Lexi Carmichael: saving scientists one snake at a time.

Weddings aren't my thing - never have been. But eloping would break my mother's heart, especially since the president of the United States put in a good word for me with his daughter's wedding planner. I'm going to have the wedding of the year...whether I like it or not.

Before we can say I do, Slash and I are flying off to the Brazilian rain forest. Our mission: stop hackers from stealing a vaccine that could save millions of lives. I thought it'd be easy, but from the moment we step off the plane, I'm up to my neck in trouble.

After an attack by drug-runners, being kidnapped and discovering that the bad guy is even worse than we'd imagined, I'm pretty sure someone in our group is working for the enemy. And they're succeeding. I'll have to use all my geek skills to stop the bad guys if I'm going to make it home in time to tie that knot.

No questions asked but some answers received

As expected for a Lexi Carmichael adventure, expect the unexpected. With Lexi’s & Slash’s wedding in the planning stages by Lexi’s mother & Basia, Lexi gets an assignment in the Amazon to help a non profit organization keep hackers out of their formula information on a newly developed Malaria drug for children free of costs. As Slash is on vacation, he decides to go along to help with the job. It’s a roller coaster ride practically start to finish. This series just keeps getting better & better. So now I must wait for the next book release. That’s the hard part for me as this is a great series!

Another good and fun book

While I enjoyed the story very much as Lexi and Slash have an interesting opportunity to go to the Amazon and give vaccines to the indigenous people there where they get more than they bargained for.

I certainly missed Kristin Walsh Heintz reading of the characters. Especially Slash’s Italian accent. It took me quite a while to get used to Emily Durante’s reading of his character and she didn’t quite have the fun way of expressing Lexi’s various idioms as she moves from on situation to another. While I don’t know what caused the change in the narrators I’m really hoping to hear Kristin’s voice back in the next Lexi Carmichael Mystery!

Bring back Kristin!

It was difficult to enjoy the continuing Lexi saga when Lexi's voice was not the same as the previous 11 books. Slash sounded like he was from India, not Italy. I was disappointed. PLEASE bring back Kristin WatsonHeintz!!!

This series was entertaining, but missed a certain element.

Slash in my opinion has gone missing. His voice had changed, and that was disappointing for me. I found it difficult to move forward in the story. Slash sexy Italian vibe had weakened which was a strong element for the series, in my opinion. In the beginning I couldn’t engage for wondering what happened to the characters. Enough said about that, I enjoyed the story.

Why oh why....

Julie Moffett books are amazing but I scored this one so low due to the narrator- why oh why change the narrator when Kristin Watson Heintz was so amazing at it. Any accents are completely lost - I can’t listen to any more of it but was forced to until it let me write a review. How can you have someone reading the book who has no passion for the job.

Get Kristen back.

I always look forward to another Lexie story. This one was no exception. Ms Moffett out did herself. The narrator was the only weak point. Slash kept losing his accent' by the end of the book all the accents were the same.

Book was excellent!

I liked the fact that Lexi isn’t such a klutz and that she’s matured with each book. I also enjoy that each new book has a really good plot, what I did not enjoy was the new narrator. I truly missed Kristen Watson Heinz. Her accents were delightful especially Slash’s. At times Ms Durante made him sound like a thug and at times the accent disappeared completely.

Narrator is different but story is great.

The first thing you notice about this book is the different voice. The job of narrator is very important. When as a reader you become invested in a series on audible, the voice of a great narrator becomes the character's voice. I believe the regular narrator had to have surgery so someone else stepped in. It took awhile to get used to the different voice but I'm glad I did. The book was interesting. I was a little worried at first with lexi going back to the jungle. I was afraid it would be a repeat but it was different. The characters have grown and this book showed that. I enjoyed it.

Please bring back the old narrator!!!

I have fallen in love with this series, but switching to a new narrator this far into the series is awful. I agree with past reviews in the last book it sounded like she had a mouth guard or retainer in while reading, but I will gladly take that back. The voice for Slash is awful!!!

This is the best in the series so far!

I loved the narrator. She sounded mature and she did so good on the voices. She did a great job on Lexi and nailed the Finn character. Her performance of Slash came into focus around mid book and when Slash and his mom were talking together near the end....bellisimo!!

The story was really wild and took me on a great adventure. For that I'm always grateful.
