About this listen

Once upon a time, in a more carefree life, I met a man. Our gazes connected over the top of his newspaper as he watched me suffer through the most embarrassing moment of my life. Older, sophisticated, and so very hot, he saved me from that awkward encounter, then tried to send me away with a pat on my head. But I wasn’t going anywhere—and the rest, as the saying goes, is history...passionate, heart-stopping, the night-of-my-life kind of history. There was just one tiny problem: I lied to him.

I told him I was a tourist and only in town for one night. So he wasn’t too impressed when I turned up again...in his Scottish castle—yes, his freakin’ castle—with his killer suit traded for a kilt and his seductive smile for a frown. When he glowers my way, I don’t know if I should be worried or turned on—because the Duke of Dalforth has secrets he’s not sharing...and a brother who’d like nothing more than to cut in on him.

When I do the wrong thing for the right reason, I have to believe it’ll work out in the end...because the duke is No Ordinary Gentleman and I’m just a normal girl, fighting not to fall in love with him.

Too much fluff

FYI, I’ve read plenty of other books by this author and they’ve been great. I don’t have a clue what happened with this story. Narrators could have been better. The story could have been cut in half. The angst was so forced and unnecessary. I liked the spicy parts, they were well written and if the story could have been released without all of the ridiculous drama it would have been a very good story. So many times I thought to stop listening but I don’t like to leave books unfinished. Was please with the happy ending.

Loved it.

I noticed some people said that this book was too descriptive. I thought that books can never really be too descriptive and thank goodness I was right. There’s not only beautiful descriptions of Scottish landscapes but also characters inner dialogue which helped flesh out characters and motives. Really fun listen.

Enough already...

I really liked this book. It could have been shorter instead of drawn out but I liked it. Towards the end I just wanted it to end because I was tired of Holly and her BS.

So many turns

So many twists and turns in this story. I couldn’t figure out how it was going to go. Donna always keeps me on my toes. Her characters love so well and are never perfect. They are perfectly flawed and we love them.

The build-out of storyline was very engaging.

The readers' voices were perfect for this novel. Lively, engaging, and personality of characters comes through.

Loved it!! Story and narrators.

Loved this story and the narrators!! Donna usually gets it right and she certainly did with this one. Steamy and romantic in a beautiful setting. Loved these characters.

Enjoyable story

This was quite an enjoyable book. It was a good tale, albeit a bit too dragged out.
I found that I had to mess with the speed settings quite a lot. When the female voice actor was reading I had to speed it up to 1.5. When the male voice actor (who I thoroughly enjoyed) was reading I had to slow it down to 1 or 1.2. The woman just read too damn slow. I recommend.

✨💫⭐️💖 Embracing her Grace! 💖⭐️💫✨

A majestic contemporary fairytale at its best! Alexander is the noble Alfa and in my imagination he just looks like David Gandy! 💕💕One the other hand, Holland is just a teacher who wants to travel, discover new places, and escape her past, but she wasn’t counting in finding love throughout her Journey. How was not possible to fall in love with this handsome, a little older, crank and lost Duke? Alexander is the dream character, and you’ll love him! The other characters that sustain this story are adorable and some of them are still mysterious. This is a book that can be read by itself. I want to see what happen with those who were part of Holly and Sandy’s lives, such as their sisters. Let’s wait for the next audio book because this book introduces us well to all these support characters. The narration performance was stellar!!!! Aria Holland and Will Watt are already among favourite narrators! I didn’t know their work, and I was impressed with both of them! It was a beautiful romance, which I enjoyed each second! 🎧🎧🎧Happy Listening! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My latest favorite audiobook!💖💖💖

Solid Donna Alum

I liked this one. Struggling to get over that narrator’s clearly did not communicate around pronunciation of character names. Female narrator, I believe, mispronounces a main character name, while the male narrator pronounces it correctly. This happens throughout the story and it’s just annoying. Otherwise, a good listen.
