About this listen

A runaway bride rushes headlong into true love in a funny, flirty, and empowering romance by Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling author Lauren Landish.

Hope Barlowe is a vow away from a lakeside wedding to her high school sweetheart. Next, check off her follow-up dreams: two kids, a dog, a home, and a happy ever after. But suddenly, ever after seems like a very long time. Instead of saying I do, Hope thinks I can’t and bolts for the woods—right into the unpredictable life of a handsome tattooed hiker.

Days into a three-week getaway, struggling musician Ben Taylor is in search of inspiration. He never thought he’d find a bride stumbling through the bramble. Right away her sweet baby blues, confounding dilemma, and spirited independence strike a chord. Ben has found his muse, and he’s falling fast. Hope is finding something just as important—herself.

Soon enough Hope and Ben have all of Maple Creek talking—and divided. Where do they go from here? If Hope has learned anything, it’s that happiness is more than a checklist, and dreams can change in a heartbeat.

The ending was a little blah but overall a good story

Surprisingly good is an understatement - this was a wild ride from the start and fumbled a little at the finish. The beginning was reminiscent of "Smokey and the Bandit" with the runaway bride bit, and I must say, it set the tone for a good time. I loved the small town aspect with a dab of outsider Rockstar - it was like the perfect recipe for a rocking good time. And let's not forget the town's antics, picking sides and having a running poll - it was like the ultimate showdown.

This book was completely entertaining!

When I say laugh out loud entertainment, I MEAN IT! There is some comedy gold in this book. Romantic comedies are not going to improve your brain capacity, but this one will definitely make you want a "Ben" in your life. I absolutely love how this author makes the MMC a fantastic example of love of female empowerment! He encourages the FMC to be herself, make her own decisions and absolutely gives her room and support to become who she is meant to be. I loved this story and highly recommend. Other reviews mention foul language and I guess for some it would be off putting. For me it was not; I would further say that the dialogue in this book was right on brand for how people would converse given their professions in the book. The narration was outstanding.

Too much foul language

The story was ok, I would have cut down on the foul language, sometimes coming up with a different word is better, especially when put in weird places. Also seriously it took to long to get to his secrets..

Finding love while looking for Hope 💙

Benjamin Taylor was minding his own business, lost in his thoughts while wandering around in the woods, on vacation, looking for the titmouse bird.
He’s deep in his thoughts about the band, his relationship with his best friend, Sean, and their contract with AMM, when out of nowhere he’s been hit by a runaway bride!
She’s clearly lost, but definitely running away from the wedding, the groom, a cult, something?? 😂

Hope Barlow is an absolute mess, she’s in her ruined wedding dress and just realized that she’s ranaway from her wedding, without any explanation to her groom, her family or guests, she literally just runaway from all of it and them and now panic is catching up to her, after she’s taken down a tourist in the woods?

Ben is not sure what to do, but he recognizes that she needs help so, with a sigh, he offers to help and let her go back with him to his rental cabin to make a call.

Hope is on a crazy ride to self discovery and Ben has offered to help her, by being there for her and to catch her and support her anyway she needs. With a mutual growing attraction, they both are finding love in the most unexpected time and place, in their lives.

I loved their story and definitely want more of Ben and Hope!!! I also would love to see Sean and Joy go out together on a date and see Sean brought down a peg or two 😂💕😂

The narrators did an amazing job with the story and brought the characters all to life.

Not bad

This was included with my kindle subscription. It was an ok read/listen. Kind of juvenile but narration was pretty good. Overall simple 3 stars for me.
