Publisher's summary

The Allied Lands are in mortal danger.

Three of the most powerful necromancers in the Blighted Lands have banded together into an unstoppable force, one capable of breaching the Craggy Mountains and laying waste to the lands beyond. If they cannot be stopped, they will tear the Allied Lands apart. Nothing will survive. And so Emily, the Necromancer’s Bane, is called upon once more to stand in defense of her adopted homeland and stop the necromancers in their tracks. Her presence may be the only thing keeping the Allied Lands from shattering as the war turns hot once again.

But there is a complication. Six years ago, Emily made a promise to the Unseelie Court, swearing to give them whatever they wanted in exchange for their help. Now, that promise has been called in. The Unseelie want her to travel into the Blighted Lands, despite the risk, and carry out a mission for them. And if she refuses, she’ll die.

Emily has no choice. Gathering an army, recruiting old friends and foes, and preparing new weapons, she sets out to challenge the necromancers in their lair, to complete the oath and win time for the Allied Land to prepare their defenses, to face the true horror of the Blighted Lands...and aware, all too aware, that the necromancers know she’s coming.

Too short

For the amount of Story that was in this book the book itself was too short, in order to go into more details than just brushing over it. 😔

I keep thinking that the last book I listened to was the best, and then he releases another masterpiece!

love this series

Great character development throughout and this one didnt disappoint. MC continues to grow and impress. The only mark against would be that after all these years she should stop wondering if killing the bad guys is bad or not.

WTF???

I am VERY displeased about the new narrator. I’m sure she’s good - but I know Tavia’s characters. The voice is all wrong - I don’t know who it is by the voice like I did with Tavia. I am SO SO disappointed. If I had seen the change in narrator before I clicked to buy it, I never would have purchased it. I would have just read the book the old fashioned way.

I guess I got too used to the previous reader.

Once you get used to the new voices it gets better. I hope the new reader gets better at immitating the voices the previous one drilled in our minds

Continues the story

This episode of Schooled in magic continues the saga of Emily in the world of magic. The story is well read and whilst it draws on the books leading up to it, leaves us with the expectation of more to come.

I enjoyed it as much as any in the series and I look forward to the next episode.

The story needs the listener to have already read or listened to the rest of the books.

New narrator did an excellent job

Saskia Maarleveld did an absolutely excellent job. I’m going to start looking into other book she has read.

The Oathkeeper did not disappoint Emily is out in forces with her side kick crew. I am digging getting to see so much more of Void. Can’t figure him out what he really wants and who the heck he actually is.

Here for the long haul. Totally jazzed two more books out so fast!!!

Great Story as Always but not the same narrator

The narrator did a great job minus the multiple times she mixed up or edited incorrectly the names of characters. For instance multiple times someone did something to Emily the narrator said Emily did it to herself. It’s just not the same without the previous narrator. Emily sounds like she’s been smoking for 40 years at some points and other men sound almost identical. Also the since of urgency is gone as she narrates. With the previous narrator I felt like I was on the edge of my seat and with this one it sounds as if someone is telling me high action packed sequences in a monotone voice at times.

this series is getting very interesting!

I was a little nervous of the new voice actress. I'm familiar with her work from other novels, but she did a fantastic job! by half way through the book I couldn't tell much differences from her character voices, compare to the previous voice actress. all in all a terrific book! highly recommend this book series as well as anything else written by Christopher G. Nuttall
