About this listen

Heroes will rise. Nations will fall.

Behind the towering walls of Belduar, Calen Bryer and his companions stand in defense of the city and its new king. In over a thousand years, Belduar has never fallen. It has stood as a bastion of hope. But the Lorian empire are at its walls once more, and the Dragonguard are coming.

In the North, with Faenir by her side, Calen’s sister Ella arrives at the port of Antiquar. She holds no fear of the unknown. She will see this through, no matter what–or who–gets in her way.

Meanwhile, at the embassy of the Circle of Magii in Al’Nasla, Rist Havel hones his newfound powers in preparation for the trials. Unbeknownst to Rist, he is being watched, measured, and judged. He was not taken into the Circle by chance. There is greatness in him. But great men can do terrible things.

As Lorian forces land on southern shores and Aeson Virandr’s letters of rebellion find their way to the right hands, only the Knights of Achyron see the true danger...the danger that stirs in the darkness.

The coming shadow will not stop. It will consume all in its path. It wants for nothing but blood and fire.

Epic Fantasy

For me this book has a familiar but distinct feeling. I am so happy to have read this. By virtue of being such a long book there is some pacing but it has been fun to explore this world and its hero’s. Worth the listen!

Turned a casual a fantasy fan to a bigger fan!

I only dabble in fantasy and got a hankering for dragon rider-type stories. Found this gem of a series that combines great story and writing with an amazing narrator. I'm a fan of Cahill and this series now.

the narration is great, story really gets running from the first book, and a ending that will make you instantly get the next book

Hit the ground running

Once this book starts it just doesn't stop. There is a tension throughout every chapter as this world continues to unfold, setting the stage for the long fight that our protagonists must face. This entry introduced more insight on other characters and what drives them, and helped flesh this world out even more.

Great Listen

I’m really enjoying the characters and the development of the story. The fighting is well described and other parts are done in great detail so I feel immersed in the story. I’ve developed likable and unlikable characters which always lets me know I’m enjoying the story and invested. The reading is very well done his voice range isn’t as large as others but still easy to listen to.

Amazing Second Installment

The climax of this book had me on the edge of my seat, heart thundering in my chest, completely riveted for chapters on end. This is an amazing epic fantasy series that still feels completely accessible. Narration is also top notch!

wow

I loved this from beginning to end... and now I want more... there was so much building onto the first book, taking us towards the next. I love thecbond Calen has with his dragon. I can't wait to read the next book!

Soooo much fun

This has to be my favorite fantasy series of this decade. I’ve already lost many hours of sleep because I was simply too excited to stop listening. If you liked book 1, this is even better!
