About this listen
Excerpt:
Elizabeth lay back onto the grass allowing the sun to warm her face and the breeze to tousle her hair. The gloriously vivid blue sky was reflected perfectly in the still end of the loch while the waterfall at the other end sent a cooling mist into the air. Perfect. This was a perfectly lovely day in a perfectly lovely place. She thought about the series of events that had brought her here to this remote estate in Scotland, alone except for her lady’s maid and the nominal staff of the manor house. It had begun with friendship. Friendship with Fitzwilliam Darcy. A friendship that deteriorated into betrayal and deep resentment and then into his abandonment when she most needed support. But…forgiveness. The forgiveness the Lord had commanded of his followers. The forgiveness she had to decide to give – without feeling it. “Decide to forgive,” her aunt had told her, “the feeling will come later – or not.” She picked up her black bonnet and tied it in place before mounting little David, the Highlands Pony she would ride back to the estate and continue her sojourn there as Mrs. MacCumbers, devastated widow.

Story
This is yet another sweet, clean, low-angst Pride and Prejudice Variation. This book of 64,000 words takes Elizabeth and Darcy out of their usual circumstances and meeting places. All of the usual villains are part of the story but minimized significantly. If you enjoy a light-hearted version of Our Dear Couple’s road to Happily Ever After, this may be a book for you. Excerpt: Mr. Thomas Bennet massaged his temples as his five-day-old daughter again woke and cried in hungry complaint. He and the wet nurse Mrs. Lindsay had been on the road for two days with the infant, and his nerves had ...

Story
Warning: This is another excessively sweet, clean, low-angst story written from a decidedly Christian point of view. This novella of about 44,000 words is about the fulfillment of Elizabeth’s Bennet’s childhood wish to be Mrs. Darcy. Excerpt: The young couple joined hands as they stood together in the sun-filled meadow of the sprawling estate of Pemberley. “Dearly beloved,” the ceremony began, “we have gathered here to witness the joining of this couple in holy matrimony.” The speaker did his best to remember the words of the marriage service without the benefit of his prayer ...

Darcy has no doubt that the sassy and intelligent Elizabeth deserves much more than a lieutenant’s salary can provide. One warning, two cautions, and a note: WARNING: In deference to a truth universally acknowledged that men do not behave the same when no women are present as they do in mixed company, this vagary does have occasional uses of profanity. The men in my life would consider it amusing but naïve to afford the same semantics of conversation for wholly different circumstances such as these, or they would should one of them choose to read it. This vagary proposes an alternate telling of the original Pride and Prejudice and considers what may have happened should the characters have been afforded a ...

Story
Still shaken from his horrible proposal, Elizabeth Bennet falls ill at the Rosings Parsonage upon reading Fitzwilliam Darcy’s letter. In her increasingly delirious state, unfathomable influences inspire her to write an impulsive response. The letter gives Mr. Darcy hope in a way that nothing else could. As her illness progresses, Darcy is there at her side, crossing boundaries he has never crossed, declaring things he has never declared. A unique experience bridges them over their earlier misunderstandings, and they start to work out their differences. That is, until Elizabeth begins to ...

Story
This novel of 67,000 words is a sweet and clean variation of Pride and Prejudice written from a Christian perspective. The characters meet as children and grow in understanding of themselves and each other over the period of Elizabeth at age five until her marriage. There are no super-villains to wreak havoc on our heroes or heroines in this low-angst retelling. Except: Summer 1796 - On a mild summer day in Hertfordshire, Lady Anne Darcy sat in the shade of the terrace overlooking the generous expanse of manicured lawn behind their leased estate. Netherfield Park was an agreeable location ...

Story
In this low angst, a sweet retelling of Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, Mr. Bennet is not just idle, he is actively cruel. And Mrs. Bennet, while still uneducated, must do whatever she can to protect her daughters from their father. Mr. Darcy’s epiphany comes much earlier than in canon and it changes his relationships not only with the Bennets but with his sister, his cousin Anne, and Bingley. When the Bennet matriarch moves to an estate outside of Bath with her daughters, Bingley follows and so do both Darcy siblings.

When Harold passes, Thomas and his two children (James and Elizabeth) return to Longbourn to live with Harold’s widow (Fanny) and four daughters (Jane, Mary, Catherine and Lydia). A full length novel that is a clean, low angst reimagining of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.

“This Work Is, By His Royal Highness’s Permission, Most Respectfully Dedicated, By His Royal Highness’s Dutiful And Obedient Humble Servant, The Author.” Underneath the dedication was a line written by the Royal Librarian during the Regency, Mr. Stanier Clarke: ‘A Scribbler: The Honorable Miss Elizabeth Bennet.’ What is the story behind this novel, which was distinguished enough that the Prince Regent, later George IV, requested a dedication to himself? Was the author from the peerage, or did she earn the title? —Prologue, From the Hedgerows to Windsor After Hunsford, ...

Note: This is a reedited version of Of Kindness and Kisses which was done to correct several typos. In addition, this new version includes the very short sequel to the original story.
