About this listen

In a small town like Solitude, Oregon, keeping a secret can be murder.

Stevie Taylor had left her sleepy Oregon hometown for a more exciting life. But after her police chief father passes away, the LAPD cop returns to Solitude and signs on as a patrol officer, hoping to heal from her loss... and from the horrific things she's seen in the city.

In Solitude, everyone knows everyone else's business - and, to Stevie's dismay, local gossip soon ties her to the new police chief and a man from her past. Tragedy then shakes up the small town when a teenager dies after taking a strange new drug. Now, the seasoned LA cop must hunt down the dealer while investigating the most important case of her life, one that could divide her tranquil town.

The first of four thrilling Rogue River novellas, On Her Father's Grave launches a new romantic suspense series from Kendra Elliot and Melinda Leigh.

Short and sweet, I never know going into a book that is under 6 hrs if it's going to feel rushed or like we didn’t get enough background. But I feel like this book did a perfect job at both. I felt like it was a well rounded story of Stevie coming home to the police.
Her family is all grieving the loss of her father, the chief of police.

Zane the new chief is catching up on everything and doesn’t yet feel like he belongs in this town. Small town mentality of everyone knows everyone and if you’re an outsider you will always be an outsider.

There seems to be a problem in the town though youths are dying and it's Stevie and Zane’s job to figure out what is going on.

I really enjoyed the narration, I always like Kate Rudd’s voice though she gives us voices that bring depth to the story.

I liked the short aspect of a novella after reading some long books lately. I enjoy the premise. Downloading the next book now…

poorly researched. there is no Rogue County in Oregon. too bad as I did like the story. my husband was a policeman in that area and I worked dispatch.

research was needed

I liked the characterization following the Taylor family and their ties to their community. I don’t normally listen to this genre of books but being from Oregon and it only being about 3 hours long I gave it a go and I was happily surprised. I am not invested and I have started book 2.

Wonder Characterization

I like the characters and the small town living. Looking forward to book #2. This a good way to sit back and relax.

Good start to the series

the story and characters just got going and the book ended. it would be bad if the author just wanted to sell another book rather than tell a good story. ill try one more book and if it leaves you hanging i wont bother with this author again. very short sighted.

why so short

Excellent audio and excellent narrator. It's a book you can sit and listen again and get more out of the book. You can get involved in the characters.
