Publisher's summary

When the man who left you brokenhearted reappears with a child in tow, do you slam the door or let the past come flooding back?

He left me broken. He walked out of my life 10 years ago with no explanation, and I fell apart.

Ian, the only man I’ve ever loved just walked back into my life...with his sassy, 11-year-old daughter, Ayla, who’s deaf. Yes, I can do the math.

He’s a cop, and I’m a paramedic, so our paths have to cross.

I thought I was over him. I thought I’d moved on. I was wrong. Who am I trying to fool?

I finally have answers, but I’m still angry. He says he feels guilty, but at least now I understand.

Maybe we can be friends? Maybe not.

I still love him. Does he still love me? Can we rebuild what we once had? Will we get a second chance?

So many questions...

There’s no time to find all the answers before life decides to kick us in the teeth again, and it’s Ian about to break.

But this time, we’re not alone. We have the whole town of Fairlake behind us.

Will Kyle and Ian get a second chance at love? Can they overcome their unresolved anger and guilt? If their explosive chemistry and emotions are any indication, it should be plain sailing, but life’s not that simple.

loved it

This was my first audiobook I've listened to and I loved it!

I had already read the book and knew I loved the story but lustening to the book brought a new dimension to the book that I really enjoyed.

I liked the narrator and will def listen to the rest of the series!

Great series, but has consistently issues

I love this series but the author has some inconsistencies in the storyline from book to book. In the previous book, Bart Durkins was the Fauville Police Chief. In this book he was the mayor. Isaiah’s last name changed from Bentley in Falling Embers to Enders in the previous book and this one. Again I love the stories but for those of us who pay attention to details this can cause some confusion.

Lovely step in the series

This is book 5 in the series and these books continue to cycle in the previous books’ characters to build a community that you can’t help but love. The passion and love and flawed people seem very real. This narrator is phenomenal too. I’d listen to any book he reads.

This has been a fun series to follow.

Ian and Kyle. College sweethearts. Both Are bi. Ends up Ian knocks up his girlfriend but doesn’t tell Kyle and just walks away. 10 years later they end up meeting again in the same small town. One is a cop and the other a paramedic. Both not sure what to do now. Kyle is angry. Ian is feeling guilty. There an 11 year old child now in the mix. I have enjoyed this story but am a little thrown off because in the last story the bad guy was the chief of police for the other town but in this story they are saying it the mayor. Totally confused. Over all great story.
