About this listen

(Originally published November 2011)

Some wallflowers bloom at night...

Violet is a quiet girl. She speaks six languages, but seldom raises her voice. The gentlemen aren’t beating down her door.

Until the night of the Spindle Cove Christmas ball, when a mysterious stranger crashes into the ballroom and collapses at Violet’s feet. He’s wet, chilled, bleeding, and speaking in an unfamiliar tongue.

Only Violet understands him. And she knows he’s not what he seems.

She has one night to draw forth the secrets of this dangerously handsome rogue. Is he a smuggler? A fugitive? An enemy spy? She needs answers by sunrise, but her captive would rather seduce than confess. To learn his secrets, Violet must reveal hers - and open herself to adventure, passion, and the unthinkable...Love.

loved it

I basically love anything read by Mary Jane Wells (including Captain Jack's Woman although she's undera different name).

I welled up with tears also felt so proud of Violet and her strength. She covered all her points very well. Gosh she was so strong. I absolutely LOVED HER!

Very good

I would probably listen to more of the Spindle Cove books if they were narrated by MJW. But unfortunately they are not. This is a nice read and good short story.

Mary Jane Wells’ performance

Tight, well written novella in the Spindle Cove setting. Narration was outstanding. Highly recommend. You will be delighted.

Story good

I did not like narrator. I found it difficult to understand her accent it took away from the story

cute, quick read with a bit of it all

The narrator was amazing! As far as the story went, it was a cute, quick read with a little bit of everything... adventure, humor, love. I would have gladly read a full length novel for this couple, but I love the novela and I'll definitely read it again.

Absolutely Loved It!

How I Wish this was a full book. Their story was full of every emotion. MJW did an amazing job as usually with the narration. I felt like I was right there along with them on their adventure.

I didn’t want it to stop

MJW as always is perfect. Violet and Christian are so sweet. This was the perfect Christmas story, I was sad it was so short.

Wonderful addition to Spindle Cove series

This truly is book 1.5 filling a small gap between book 1 and 2. A wonderful addition to the series. Familiar characters and a unique story.

MJW

Mary Jane Wells is absolutely fantastic! Now I am basically choosing only titles narrated by her. She has ruined any other narrators, except for Rosalyn Landor of course. The story was short and sweet.
