About this listen

Romantasy twist on Beauty and the Beast—the first in a seductive new dark romance series set in an alternate Silicon Valley where information is power, and those who control the flow of information live like gods…

“Sexy and utterly engrossing!” —J.T. Geissinger, bestselling author of The Queens and Monsters series

Alana. While my name means beauty, beneath that surface is a depth I allow very few to see. I’m sole heir to Aquarius Social, a media giant about to succumb to an unseen enemy. My father’s solution is to marry me off to the son of a competing family. My reaction? Not a chance. Now I have just a week before the wedding to change my fate.

Who knew the unforeseen twist would be an assassination attempt on me and an unwanted rescue by Thorn Beathach, the head of the rival social media empire driving Aquarius under? The richest, most ruthless of them all, the Beast protects his realm with an iron rule: no one sees his face. When he shows himself to me, I know he’ll never let me go.

Thorn may think he can lock me in his enchanted castle forever, but I’m not the docile Beauty he expects. If the Beast wants to tie me up, I’m going to take pleasure from every minute of it . . .and we’ll just see who ends up shackled.

🌻A bit out there!🌻

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻V from Kansas🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

When I read the summary,I almost didn’t purchase this book, however, RZ has been an automatic download for so long, I took a chance. I probably should have stuck with my first instinct and passed on this one.

This book was set in the future and the new world is apparently powered through social media. Different gems and crystals are used to store the power collected through “likes” on a social media platform. Yeah, this was a bit out there, to me.

I tried to just ignore the social media concept and just focus on the romance and mystery that occurred in this new world and it was just, “Ok”!

It was sort of another retelling of Beauty and the Beast; which has been so overdone. In addition, the ending was truly unremarkable.

I have to give RZ credit for the unique world for which she surrounded her characters. However, I couldn’t get passed the social media aspect of the book.

I forced myself to finish the book, however, it was not easy. This one was a dud and I plan to return it.😭

Phenomenal

This is my first book by this author and I absolutely love it. Being a beauty and the best fan myself I was hooked when I heard this was inspired by it. I love how the author made the story her own. The twist and turns had me on the edge of my seat. Definitely gonna read more of her

So unique - Could not stop listening !

At first I wasn’t sure what was happening. I had to repeat first few chapters and then I became fascinated and couldn’t stop listening. It is a Beauty and the Beast story set in a very unique San Fransisco. It is a violent world but not constant erotica or explicit violence. Performances were well done. I typically lean toward historical, sport or smart contemporary stories. This fantasy was dark but you could sense the light…strangely addictive.

Great new series

I am a huge fan of anything that Rebecca Zanetti write but I was a little worried about this one. It is unlike any of her other books. A dark romance? Not my usual but I was interested. And wow was I drawn into this world quickly. The Characters are intriguing, the world building excellent, and the magic / science system was very original. This story kept surprising me. I highly recommend this book and I can’t wait to for the next one.

Loved this book!

This book is definitely different from this author's previous books. As it's advertised it is a dark romance and has intimate scenes that are certainly 'darker' than her other series. This story is a retelling/modernizing of Beauty and the Beast. I found the plot of having four main families that use crystals to power everyone's social media intriguing. I hope as the series continues we learn even more about how that works because I really loved that idea. The main characters Thorn and Alana written extremely well. I admit I enjoyed Thorn's alpha male/possessive traits but the sweetness he had with Alana (at times) was wonderful. I felt Alana was a complex character and that most people underestimated her. I think the two of them make a very strong and interesting couple. I really loved the 'supporting' characters and can't wait to learn more about them in future books. The storyline/plot was good. I liked how Zanetti threw in things to show that Thorn wasn't as 'evil' as people thought (trying to clear up problems with child trafficking, etc), but he still kills and would probably be considered an anti-hero. I also love how Alana is so knowledgeable and spends lots of time in Thorn's library. There are great story twists with a serial killer possibly stalking Alana, her trying to remember/figure out who killed a few family members, Thorn's curse, etc. And wow, that ending... LOVED IT!! I have the ebook, audiobook, and the special edition hardcover (which is absolutely gorgeous). I read the book & then listened to the audiobook and whichever your preferred reading method is you should enjoy this book! The narrators did a phenomenal job and I was hooked the moment I started listening to the book!! I thoroughly enjoyed the book and can't wait for the next one in the series!!

RZ is the best!

Another fantastical universe like no other, very poignant. The sex is a little overly S&M for my taste but the characters are deep and creative. RZ is really good at fantasy and I love the excellent descriptive writing.

More Twists and Turns than a Rollercoaster

So richly dark that never apologize. The antihero all would love to hate, but have such deepest feelings for the "confused" FMC makes me swoon for that depth of love.
WOW!! Steamy. This book has so many turns, my neck have whiplash trying to keep each character straight.

Can't wait for the next couple's maze into the GEM world of Grimm Bargains.
Would it be Scarlett, Ella, Rosalyn, or Justice HEA?
