How they learn to survive and adapted to their new way of living their lives.

I was not happy with the reading of the novel. although it was clear it did not have what a human reader brings to the reading.

Awful narration

Interesting story. A few holes in the plot. Computer generated narration made it difficult to follow conversations as everyone sounded the same. Emphasis put in wrong place many times.

Poor pronunciation, Interesting story

Like many of Kagan’s books, there are some discrepancies in the stories. In this story, it says Alana’s mother made sure she couldn’t conceive. But she did have two children later when she married. Alana’s story is compelling and disturbing, Drawing deeply on our sympathies.

The problem I have with some of the readers, in many books, is they do not know how to pronounce Yiddish. They should have been coached on pronunciation and have proper research into Jewish customs.

Aside from this, the story, especially the history, is interesting. The AI reader fell short to me from a real human voice. In this story, the AI reader missed pronounced many words and lacked a human response to some words and ideas and phrasing.

Please don’t use AI readers.

Keep writing stories about WWII. We need to keep this history alive more than ever.

Thank you for this book.

Great book!

I enjoyed everything about this book! It’s one you simply cannot put down. I’m pretty sure I felt every emotion while devouring this novel. The story has depth, more than I expected. The only negative I can identify is the narration is done by AI (artificial intelligence). But within the first 3 chapters you forget because your so into the book.

Hated the AI

I only wanted to rate the performance. I like this author but hated the narration “performed “ by AI. One of the reasons I enjoy Audible is the acting, accents and accuracy in pronunciation. This was flat Even if the AI was perfected I could not support this. There are very talented people whose career and livelihood are dependent upon doing this job.
