About this listen

The dentist was found with a blackened hole below his right temple. A pistol lay on the floor near his out flung right hand. Later, one of his patients was found dead from a lethal dose of local anaesthetic. A clear case of murder and suicide. But why would a dentist commit a crime in the middle of a busy day of appointments?

A shoe buckle holds the key to the mystery. Now - in the words of the rhyme - can Poirot pick up the sticks and lay them straight?

This title was previously published as The Patriotic Murders and An Overdose of Death.

If you could sum up One, Two, Buckle My Shoe in three words, what would they be?

Unexpected plot twists

What other book might you compare One, Two, Buckle My Shoe to and why?

Any other Christie work

What about Hugh Fraser’s performance did you like?

I have enjoyed listening to Hugh Fraser's performances of Christie's works. I have listened to several, and he does such a great job as narrator.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, I was okay with drawing it over several sittings. It got a little slow in places, and the ending seemed a little improbable.

Another classic Christie

Mrs. Christie has done it again. Ingenious puzzle, the intriguing H.. Poirot, the technique of being frozen in a sliver of time. And, world class narration.

Of Course I adore Hugh Frazier's reading. My discovery of lesser famous Christie stories through Audible is like finding special gems.

Love my Christie!

Love it, good mystery, great puzzle. Second time listening with my daughter after a space of four-five years and had forgotten the resolution and I still couldn’t solve it, the second time around! Goodness, if I only had an egg shaped head … but we came close on a few points and it was exciting to ponder.

Delightful

I rather like the addition of the old nursery rhyme with this book, it kept me thinking about how the part will be applied to the book.

Interesting Rhyming Theme

Eventually, the reader begins to see something of a deterioration in Agatha Christie's writing. I have found it so in almost any author's writing. This story is well constucted. However, her Middle East mysteries are almost too challenging... Just thought I'd throw that in.

One two buckle my shoe

Love Agatha’s books

The plot didn’t reveal anything until near the end. Keeps you guessing throughout the story. Very interesting and enjoyable.

A Fine Mystery

It's hard not to love a Poirot mystery. It's all the better when narrated by Hugh Fraser or David Suchet.

It's Poirot...

The themes in this excellently planned & written Agatha Christie mystery as still as pertinent today as when it was first published.

Excellently constructed
