Publisher's summary

New York Times best-selling author Linda Lael Miller gave listeners "[A] gift to treasure" (Romantic Times) with her acclaimed Springwater Seasons novels. Now, once again capturing the spirit of early America, she delivers a marvelous tale of love, family loyalty, and passionate desire on the Western frontier - where fairy tales sometimes do come true.

She was the only child of a rich and powerful rancher. He was the son of a drunken ne'er-do-well. But when 11-year-old Luke Shardlow rescued eight-year-old Charity Barnham from drowning, she promised him one wish...any wish his heart might desire.

Fifteen years later, Charity and Luke meet once more, but the gulf between them seems as wide as ever. Charity is engaged to a neighboring rancher her father has chosen for her. Luke still seems to be a Shardlow to the core - a drifter, maybe even an outlaw, on a road to nowhere.

But things are not always what they appear, for Luke has a few secrets to hide. As a sweet, sensual passion begins to grow between them, Luke and Charity discover that the only wish either of them long to fulfill is to spend a sweet eternity in each other's arms - no matter the cost.

Very engaging

Very good sense of humor and story line .
It has the right amount of suspence yet love is still the base for most of the book . I thoroughly enjoyed being transported to a completely different time set and era while commuting to and from work .
The finale is breathtaking.
I only gave a 4 star to the story because the sex scenes went a bit overboard, just my 5 cents there

So many great stories within this book!

This was a most enjoyable read. I loved all the different characters with their own unique personalities and the different dynamics between them. I loved the way their problems and fears and every other issue worked out for a happy ending!

great story bad narration

the story itself was wonderful but was a struggle sticking with it due to the narration and pauses. At times it seemed monosyllabic and as I listen to audio at night found myself being lulled to sleep by the voice.

Ok, I could’ve been a lot better with a different narrator

The only negative thing about the narrator was that she could not do male voices very well at all. I think that made big difference in how much I liked the actual story. The story had the potential to be great but there were some parts that were just too corny or predictable that made it not so great

Horrible narrator!

i rarely write a review but the narrator ruined the book! Either this narrator was over edited or she has a problem with fluency. There so many not necessary pauses after sentences that it distracted from the story.
