About this listen

When a woman has to choose between death and marriage to a total stranger, she must be in a dire predicament.... And for Jolie McKibben, about to pay by hanging for a terrible crime she didn't commit, salvation by marriage couldn't come a moment too soon. Housekeeping for Daniel Beckham, a widower who invoked the town's wedding ordinance to rescue Jolie from the gallows, is better than the alternative...but understanding the silent stranger who is now her husband might just about kill her. Daniel doesn't believe in Jolie's innocence. And despite his willingness to marry the pretty, defiant "outlaw" on the spot, the prosperous farmer had little to say to her after "I do". But for Jolie, their arrangement of convenience soon deepens into a rich and vibrant attraction that sets her trembling with desire in Daniel's presence. Somehow, she would win his love, body and soul. Unless the desperados on her trail shatter the fragile, trusting bond of husband and wife.... Linda Lael Miller's beloved novel of the American West shimmers with the unbridled passion of two adventurous hearts!

Daniel

I just wish Daniel would have been a little more expressive- nicer to Jolie. Maybe stand up for her more especially when it came to his whore. Maybe apologize for embarrassing her

Love at first sight

Great story. I loved it. A quiet man a woman no one believed. A man thinking he couldn’t love again and not letting her in. A long road but a great family came.

Great book.

I love Jack Garrett's voice and this is a good book. Sometimes, I wanted to reach in smack the characters, other times I wanted to hug them.

"He was the most confounding muel headed man."

I was hooked on this story from the very start. Jack Garrett, is my favorite narrator of course.
Daniel, stubborn as could be.
Jolie, certainly the most giving young woman, really tried to make the best of every circumstance. I was Thankful however, for the ff button, as I really didnt need to be present in their intimate life all that much. Great story.

Good historical romance

I enjoyed this story. The narration was great. There were twists and turns but the story moved along very well. The author gives so many details, it felt authentic and I could picture every scene in my mind. I had some issues with the female protagonist at times, being headstrong and sometimes thoughtless, but overall it was very entertaining. I also thought the male protagonist was hot!
