About this listen

Kate Rosetti is supposed to be taking the week off. After all, she’s the maid of honor in her sister’s wedding, and Jane Rosetti will kill her if she’s too busy chasing a murderer to participate in the long-anticipated nuptials.

Unfortunately, the police chief has news for Kate. When a severed hand shows up in a box at the precinct and a local jewelry store is robbed, Kate is called in to help investigate a not-quite-homicide. But with such a high-profile diamond heist combined with random body parts appearing ad nauseum, this case is unlike anything the department has seen before.

Kate is up against the clock on this investigation. She’s got to this situation tied up in a nice bow before her sister walks down the aisle—and before more appendages start turning up in grisly packaging. Add to that the fact that Kate’s dancing on the cusp of a relationship with her not-quite-boyfriend and feeling like she’s going to need to make a decision one way or another…or risk losing him forever.

Can Kate make it to the wedding, commit to Alastair Gem, and catch a killer, or has she finally stacked too much onto her plate?

Thoroughly Enjoyable Read

This is a great series that even at Book 10 is just hitting its stride, or maybe it is it's second stride. Whatever it is, this book entertains on so many levels. Kate Rosetti is a likeable but strong female lead who has always been a workaholic to the detriment of her romantic relationships. In this book, thanks in great part to a very patient potential love interest, I enjoyed watching Kate reevaluate herself, her life, and her romantic relationship(s), albeit slowly, ever so slowly, but with brutal honesty. Jane is a bit over the top as her wedding day draws closer and her wedding rings are caught up in the mystery. The other characters are well developed and their relationships flesh out the story to add personal and sometimes amusing elements. The mystery is good, multi-layered, and I did not fully solve it before the big reveal. I highly recommend this book, but if you have not read the series, do start at the beginning to fully appreciate the skill with which Ms. Lamanna creates and develops these wonderful characters, relationships, and stories.

Gem and Kate A+++++

I absolutely love this series. The narrator is one of my favorite, the character development has been wonderful thus far, and there better be Gem and Kate babies in the future or I may cry. I love them together! I'd buy 40 books in this series if she keeps writing them that long.

Thank goodness

All I can say is it’s about TIME. In have loved every story. This one wasn’t a strong mystery like the others, but it did focus on Kate’s feelings a little more.. and with out ruining it.. all I need to say is, FINALLY!!!

Enjoyed but sometimes frustrating.

I loved the fact that the 4 women friends in this book series are successful professionally and have strong characters and opinions but sometimes it seems they are in high school and the 3 friends main concern is Kate’s sex life instead of concentrate on their own lives. In the meantime, Kate seems to be incapable to keep her friends, co-workers and family on their places and stop bothering her about relationships. It seems that is not enough being a good friend and professionally successful. A woman has to have a man to be and feel complete. Anyway, Kate should express her own feelings a stop whining. And please stop talking about Gem’s money.
