About this listen

The latest twisty psychological thriller from internationally best-selling author Lucy Clarke, One of the Girls is the delicious story of a bachelorette trip on a stunning Greek island...that ends in murder.

It was supposed to be the perfect weekend away. Six very different women travel to a sun-soaked Greek island for a bachelorette trip, to celebrate Lexi’s upcoming wedding. From the glorious ocean views to the quaint tavernas and whitewashed streets, the vacation seems too good to be true. But dangerous undercurrents run beneath the sunset swims and midnight cocktails—because each of the women is hiding a secret. Someone is determined to make sure that Lexi’s marriage never happens—and that one of them doesn’t leave the island alive.

Gripping, twisty, and full of sun-soaked suspense, this timely thriller examines the joys of female friendship…as well as the deadly consequences when a relationship goes wrong.

Critic reviews

"The twisting, suspenseful, and fast-paced thriller keeps the reader guessing until the very end. Grab a mimosa and join the party, as Clarke explores the complicated dynamics of female relationships while tackling difficult issues such as sexual assault, racial inequalities, domestic abuse, and bullying. Suggest One of the Girls to readers of Lucy Foley, Ruth Ware, and Shari LaPena."--Booklist

"Full of suspense and unexpected thrills, it'll be hard to put this book down as you try to figure out the 'whodunit.'"--USA Today

“Clarke patiently and skillfully layers on the tension until the book reaches a final, powerful crescendo that reveals the surprising answers to those questions… Clarke elevates her story with a thoughtful examination of the intricacies of female friendship and women’s lives.”--BookReporter.com

A life changer

This was the type of book where I cleaned my whole house to find an excuse to listen to. This was the type of book where I reevaluated my friendships and my relationships and my family because I was so inspired by the characters. This was the type of book that had such great twists that I was not only entertained but I also felt truly inspired by the characters and the complexities of the stories that was told. I couldn’t wait to see what happened next and I simultaneously didn’t want it to end. My first but not my last Lucy Clarke book. WOW!

Wonderful read!

This was a story about women empowerment and the secrets we all try to hide. How we as women see ourselves in a world where there are supposed roles to be.

Eh

If you’ve seen or read big little lies, no need to get this book. Basically, the exact same thing.

It took long to get to the best part of the story. I grew a little bored while getting through it but overall it was not a bad read. I don’t know if I would recommend this book

Slow

It was ok. Very slow moving. No shock factor. A lot of scene setting for a few end chapters of predictable “action”.

Boring

Too much background, not enough plot. Was hoping for something more that never delivered. Oh well

Not bad

Starts a little slow but ends strongly. If you liked Big Little Lies, this is a great pick.
