About this listen

1990.

Please write and tell me why you should live here.

Toby Dobbs received a big Victorian house with too many bedrooms to count as a wedding present from his father, but his marriage is over within a month. Very alone, and very lonely, Toby posts an advertisement seeking the Unexpectedly Alone to become his roommates. Fifteen years later, the wayward souls he takes in are still living with him, with no intention of leaving.

2004.

Please tell me how I can convince you to move out.

Toby Dobbs has met Leah Pilgrim from across the road, and they're falling in love. But before they can begin a new life together, Toby and Leah must help Toby's house of sweet slackers and lovelorn misfits grow up, solve their problems, and set themselves free. But can their new relationship survive the test?

this book was nothing like any other Lisa Jewell book I've read. I was pleasantly surprised considering it was drastically different. I really liked the characters and it really didn't take me very long to get sucked into it! if you're looking for a mystery this is not the book for you. but if you're looking for just a decent story, light reading with good characters give it a try!

surprisingly good

I really recommend this book. The story is really nice, the characters are all very endearing and I just couldn’t put it down.
It is extremely well written, you go on this journey with them and feel like you are part of this big crazy house

Enjoyed it. A solid 4. I love how well Ms. Jewell develops her characters. A good summer read.

This was a very nice story. I did not want it to end. I usually read darker stuff, but this was a nice break from the depressing. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed in this book. The narration was excellently executed. Two thumbs up!

Sad it is over

Jewell never ceases to get me invested in the characters that she creates and this book is no exception. I just adore Toby. A little different thing though was that in this book she’s managed to create a character that I despise, who has seemingly no redeeming qualities in Ruby. Excellent book, highly recommend!

Another great listen from Lisa Jewell

Loved the characters & how their lives intertwined. Narrator was excellent too! I love everything English!

I love Lisa Lewell and Helen Duff together. No one could've narrated this better and no one could've created such diverse character development. This book, like many of her novels, is somewhat sad, heartfelt, touches on mental health and how you don't know who people really are until you GET to know them. Very enjoyable, easy to listen to.

Lisa Jewell and Helen Duff do not disappoint. I have enjoyed a number of Lisa Jewell's books; narrated by Helen Duff and Roommates Wanted is no exception.

Such a great story. I love how Jewell has a knack for making the homes themselves main characters. Watching the transformation of the Peacock House simultaneous to Toby is magical. The story did not have a big twist or wow moment but I truly enjoyed every part of the story. Each character, with their flaws and their virtues, I found to be lovable and interesting. Typically there is a character that you just don't connect to; but in Roommates Wanted I did not find that. Maybe because each person was a small personality part of each of us - I don't really know. But not once did I find myself wishing a chapter away because I wasn't interested in the character and their story.

Jewell and Duff one of my favorite combos
