Publisher's summary

Orson Reid: college freshman, gamer, and quite possibly the legendary boogeyman of the magical world. And you thought your life was weird.

It all started the night Orson kissed his best friend, Elyse, and she kissed him back. Yes, the kiss was life-changing, but in ways Orson never could have imagined. It seems he contracted a "virus" that is making him taller, faster, and stronger. But his life doesn't go completely off the rails until the night Elyse shows up at his house, strips out of her clothes, and shape-shifts into a giant cat - a panther, to be exact.

Now, instead of preparing for his freshman year of college, Orson is tossed head first into a world where shape-shifters, magic, and monsters are real. A world ruled by the secretive Paragon Society, a group that enforces magical law with brutal efficiency.

And if all that wasn't enough for one guy to deal with, Orson may just be the Ollphiest, the legendary monster that even monsters fear.

Great new entry into urban fantasy

I’ve read this is YA. Maybe. I’ve read it has a not so happy ending. Well it’s in character with the MC. I love the Dresden Files. And second to that I love the Demon Accords. This is very much along those lines. Very good. It’s an LItRPG without all the stats and stuff. I have enjoyed the first book and look forward to Lucy. Can’t wait. A good first book. And oh yeah. The narrator. Ever watched Odd Thomas? Well. God bless the actor. We still miss him. But the narrator is very much like him in that movie. It's just like it. Very good. Perhaps I should look up the books.

The story and the narrator were perfect

First thanks Mr Delaney for writing this fun read. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Matt Godfrey really was the perfect choice to narrate this book. He has got 18 year old sarcastic boy down. Lol. His feminine voices were similar sounding but he aged them. Elyse sounded like a teenaged girl. Aunt Tina sounded older and Mrs Kelly sounded like a mom. If you want a quick fun listen I really just recommend this book

Great book with a sucky ending.

Through out reading this book I found it to be quite fascinating and a very good story unfortunately I tend to rate things by how they end. And unfortunately this book had a totally down beat ending. And I know not every store you can have a happy ending but you know what I just skip those books and just read the ones that I like. If you can’t enjoy a story why dedicate your time to reading it unless of course you’re a masochist. I’ll probably go ahead and get the next book and to see if it improves any. The way this book ended in a downward spiral I don’t know if I have any hopes for it.

outstanding shifter story

this story is twist on the unwilling hero. Orson knows nothing of the shifter world and spends most of the story confused about what is happening to his life which makes the story so much more believable. How would you feel if you woke up one more to find that you were several inches taller than you had been when you went to sleep. Orson reactions in the story are much more believable than the usual "oh I'm a shifter now cool what's next. Could not put it down. looking forward to the rest of the series.
