About this listen

Reidon Ward will become a god.

He doesn't know it yet, of course. Reidon was born weak, sickly, and small. Afflicted with a painful disease and abandoned by his parents because of it, he has had to fight tooth and nail for every minor advantage life has allowed him.

However, his perseverance has not gone unnoticed, and when the most powerful artificial intelligence in human history takes an interest in him, things began to change quickly. Granted a CAD—a Combat Assistance Device—with awful specs but an infinite potential for growth, Reidon finds himself at the bottom of his class at the Galens Institute, one of the top military academies in the Collective. Along with his best friend, Viviana Arada, Reidon will have to start his long climb through the school rankings and on to the combat tournament circuits that have become humanity's greatest source of excitement and entertainment.

So begins the rise of a god. So begins the ascent of the Stormweaver.

Best book I've heard all year!!

I could not recommend this more if I tried. My only gripe is that I read it when it came out and now I have to wait until winter for book 2.

Wow

I have over 200+ titles in my Audible collection and this is by far one of the best ones. Top 10 book! Just wow, great build of each character and how they tie in to the MC. One thing I would have like to see was a slight rapid growth of the MC, but as the story continued it made sense of how the MC grew. This book is legit. I would love to see this book as adaptation of Graphic Audio.

Skips over very important parts.

I'm not sure why but the writers will spend large chunks of the book describing fights between characters who we have never met and will never see again and at the same time skip over the main character's fights.
The best spoiler free example I can give is at 1 Point one of the main characters has to fight his best friend. Now this fight is extremely important too both of them and these 2 are very close as they have interacted much in the book, However when the time for the fight comes the author just skips it and just told who won.

like your favorite RPG in book format

it honestly feels like a video game made Into a book. which sounds counter intuitive. but I guess it's all about the execution. and in this case, it's executed perfectly. I've listened to 10 hour books that last me for a week and feels like a month. at over 30 hours I kept wanting more. first time since the first couple of hell diver books that I've actually groaned out loud " nooo!" when I heard it was over. absolutely try it.

Great world created in this story

It’s a very original world created. At least I have never heard anything like it. It is painfully slow on the reveals as the story moves along though that is deliberate I suspect.

Loved it!!

This is just a great book! Not only is it a fine example of “progression fiction” done exceptionally well, it’s also just a damn good work of science fiction. Additionally the narrator did an excellent job of creating not just voices and telling a story, but adding real depth to it.

I would recommend this to anyone who like sci-fi and LitRPG. Progression fiction is like the cousin to LItRPG and this is just a phenomenal example of the sub-genre done exceptionally well!

Don't get me wrong

SPOILERS ******🗯🗯🗯🗯💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣
Okay. So I'm going to start by saying this is a great book. And I would love to give it 5 stars. The problem is the plot holes big enough to drive a semi truck through no 2 semi trucks throw first off. The writer seems to not even pay attention to what he does himself. He sets things up, such as main character being attacked in a hall. He was led there by another character. Not going to give away any major points. Such as names of who does it and stuff like that. anyway he's led to a hall and attacked by a group of 6.
And then afterwards claims that there's no way that they can catch them when it would be easy enough to tell the head of securiteddy. Who, who had led him there because he had witnesses to that part leading to the downfall of the entire grope. Because the character is a coward and would give in after 5 minutes of interrogation.
And there would probably be enough room to have Cos 4 her to be removed from the school. But no, he has to fake it and pretend that no one saw it. What so ever even though everyone saw it. Secondly, there is no rank of lieutenant major anywhere in the world. So I don't know where you got that rank but ot drives me nuts Thirdly, dude didn't seem to look at any kind of military to base his off of he does some things that are completely off the wall when it comes to military etiquette.
