An interesting world building!

An interesting story with a well developed world building.
I found myself immersed in this audio from the very first chapter.
I am looking forward to listening to the other books in this series.

A great story

I really enjoyed this book. The story was well written and the narrator did a fabulous job.

I don't like to have spoilers in my reviews so I won't go into great details. I felt very bad for Mary when she had to leave her cats behind. Her aunt was horrible. I hated the bullies at the school & was happy when Mary was able to get her revenge on them. Once Mary got to paws I was relieved that she was among friends. I was very glad that she was able to deal with Allister & he got what he deserved.

A great story and I can't wait for book 2. If you like magic, animals & magicians then this story is for you. A great story.

Narrated by Priscilla Finch
Summary:
Miri discovers she’s a shapeshifter. She can take the form of a cat, but only if she has a charm her grandmother bestowed upon her. Little does she know, somebody else wants her charm and that power, and he wants it very badly.

Additional Comments:
- Likeable characters. You don’t get to know much about Miri, but that might be on purpose to leave room for growth later.
- Plot is predictable but still enjoyable.
- Decent narrator.
- I thought there’d be a little more fanfare over Miri discovering she’s a shapeshifter.
- The middle kind of turns into a Harry Potter-eque thing where Miri tries to figure out her powers at the magical school.
- Interesting world with a lot of room for expansion.
- Content warnings: A few mild curse words. There’s quite a bit of violence. It’s glossed over but there’s talk of rape, mind control, seduction, really brutal beatings, murder, eating kids, etc.

Conclusion:
If there’d been a tad less violence, I would highly recommend the book to middle schoolers, but as is, I’d say high school or older. Otherwise, the book has a lot of charm and cool worldbuilding.
*I received a free copy of the audiobook. I have freely chosen to review it. All thoughts are my own.

Good Shifter Story

This is a good start of series - I like how shifting and magic are portrayed. It has a steady pace and kept my interest through out. I look forward to book 2

The trouble with cats and wolfs

This is a really sweet and exciting story, that’s perfect for middle schoolers and some high school students. It’s a little bit coming of age, and a lot about believing in yourself and being on the right side through a conflict. It’s also lots of actions with sprinkles of mystery.
I loved the story, and would warmly recommend it to parents of middle schoolers, who will love this story that’s written a little bit like the first Harry Potter book. The narrators did a great job too, with changing their voices to bring the story to life.

Great Read for YA Shifter lovers of all ages

Miri comes from a long line of family shifters. Her mom is not part of that line since Miri's omama gave the special amulet to Miri. Her father is the big bad wolf.
Miri goes to school with other paranormal beings and is being taught about her new form and possible powers.
Very good story. Especially if you need a little break from more adultish reads. Will continue the series when I need those breaks again.
Narrator did an excellent job especially with the spells and singing.
I received the audiobook for free from StoryOrigin in exchange for my honest review.
