About this listen

The popular television series Narcos captures only half the truth. Here, at last, is the full story.

Until now, we believed that everything had been said about the rise and fall of Pablo Escobar, the most infamous drug kingpin of all time. But these versions have always been told from the outside, never from the intimacy of his own home.

More than two decades after the full-fledged manhunt finally caught up with the king of cocaine, Juan Pablo Escobar travels to the past to reveal an unabridged version of his father - a man capable of committing the most extreme acts of cruelty while simultaneously professing infinite love for his family.

This is not the story of a child seeking redemption for his father but a shocking look at the consequences of violence and the overwhelming need for peace and forgiveness.

Juan Pablo does an amazing job on walking the line between explaining events while not glorifying them.

Great story about Pablo Escobar by his son. As a United States citizen my apologies for our country not allowing him and his family into ours.

I loved the book. goes to show that everything begins and ends with peace. no need for our children to suffer for our mistakes. such an inspiring story depicting all the struggles and challenges they faced all because of kinship to a notorious drug lord

If you could sum up Pablo Escobar: My Father in three words, what would they be?

Second hand antidotes on a drug lord

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

It would have to be some of the untold stories known only to family members

What aspect of Luis Moreno’s performance would you have changed?

He was fine

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not really

Any additional comments?

The story jumps a lot back and fourth and really seems to be an apology for his father at times and a correction of morales that others have made.
It's all a bit boring really.

A bit of a drag

As a former narco, born to parents who were both narcos, I am truly impressed by the honesty and humility with which this book was written. Being born to big-timers is not the magical experience people generally believe it to be. Often, when the reality of that condition is shared with the public, the many burdens go unnoticed for all the material luxuries, and feigned regard that comprise the aesthetics of such a life. I salute the resiliance of Sebastion, his mother, sister, and mate for their resilience throughout unimaginable difficulty and peril. This book was immaculately written and performed. I look forward to my second listen.

I appreciate it the way that he describes it from his point of view and trying to be as non-bias as as possible
