About this listen

Roger Reaves grew up a poor farm boy in Georgia and went from making 'moonshine' to becoming one of the most prolific smugglers of the 20th century. He covered six continents, transporting 20 ton ship loads of hash, tons of cocaine, and completed more than 100 sorties across the US border with plane loads of marijuana. His friends and associates spanned the globe - from Medellin Cartel kingpins Jorge Ochoa and Pablo Escobar, to "Mr. Nice" Howard Marks and the infamous Barry Seal who was Roger's close friend and employee. He escaped from prison on five separate occasions; was shot down in both Mexico and Colombia; and tortured almost to death in a Mexican prison. Despite it all, Roger still has a twinkle in his eye as he recounts his life story. And you have probably never heard of him...till now.

Unbelievable life..

If this book were made into a movie, it would have to be toned DOWN just to be believable. Roger has lived a truly crazy life..
highly recommend...

Unbelievable! Amazing!

Loved the fact that he told the story. It felt as if you were personally being told a tale.

What a great read!

The story is simply amazing! I always wanted to read a story like this. He obviously went through a lot and I personally would have quit after the first arrest. But he kept going spending most of his life in prison, and did not spend much time with his family that he so desired. There were too many snitches involved. Most of his associates told on him to save their asses. But he refused to do the same, what a saint. But all in all great story really amazing. I know I’m not even close to being that brave.

Outlaws and Airolanes

my most favorite things in this world…drugs, outlaws, and airplanes. This book is in my top five list of all books I’ve ever read/listened to. Two thumbs up for sure!

Not the man I expected.

One of the best stories I have listened too. Roger seems to be a person of many talents and when given a choice between a deadend job or having a opportunity to make money that would make a difference in his families life he went for it. I can't imagine how any film maker would pass over this. It doesn't need to be altered to be a good movie. Through everything he had gone through he is a man of morals.

Truly a great story and I will be listening again. Do not pass over this title if you are in to adventure. He has you covered from Air, land and sea!

great book

An honest and courageous good listen that kept the story moving. His is well told, especially when he started trafficking cocaine and his trial and imprisonment.

Absolutely excellent

it is a very long book, but I'm glad it was. It is read by Roger Reaves himself, and his ability to remember small things that happened years ago is superb.

Would have loved more on the cartel but it is a really good book and you will walk away learning some things from it

American Legend

This guy is awesome . His story is corroborated in many books. I would like to meet him before we lose him.

Best Audible, yet! By far!

I absolutely loved Smuggler; the story, its politics, its faith and the self-narration by Mr Reaves. Such a great story?
