Roger Reaves grew up a poor farm boy in Georgia and went from making 'moonshine' to becoming one of the most prolific smugglers of the 20th century. He covered six continents, transporting 20 ton ship loads of hash, tons of cocaine, and completed more than 100 sorties across the US border with plane loads of marijuana. His friends and associates spanned the globe - from Medellin Cartel kingpins Jorge Ochoa and Pablo Escobar, to "Mr. Nice" Howard Marks and the infamous Barry Seal who was Roger's close friend and employee. He escaped from prison on five separate occasions; was shot down in both Mexico and Colombia; and tortured almost to death in a Mexican prison. Despite it all, Roger still has a twinkle in his eye as he recounts his life story. And you have probably never heard of him...till now.

If this book were made into a movie, it would have to be toned DOWN just to be believable. Roger has lived a truly crazy life..
highly recommend...

Unbelievable life..

Loved the fact that he told the story. It felt as if you were personally being told a tale.

Unbelievable! Amazing!

The story is simply amazing! I always wanted to read a story like this. He obviously went through a lot and I personally would have quit after the first arrest. But he kept going spending most of his life in prison, and did not spend much time with his family that he so desired. There were too many snitches involved. Most of his associates told on him to save their asses. But he refused to do the same, what a saint. But all in all great story really amazing. I know I’m not even close to being that brave.

What a great read!

my most favorite things in this world…drugs, outlaws, and airplanes. This book is in my top five list of all books I’ve ever read/listened to. Two thumbs up for sure!

Outlaws and Airolanes

I’ve listened to interviews on YouTube of Roger Reeves many times and I’m so blessed to have the audible version of this book! Awesome stories! The connection to the missionary group in the movie “End of the Spear” and Roger’s desire to learn to fly to be a part of that group and then they helped him out when he found them by chance after crashing flying contraband was God calling Roger I believe. I hope Martin Scorsese and Jordan Belford (Wolf of Wall Street) make a movie about Roger’s life story. It would be better than the stories (that took place at the same timeline) in Blow (George Young) or American Made (Barry Seal)

I’ve been waiting for this Audiobook!

This is a true tale of adventure, fortune, misfortune, and betrayal. It's read by the author and an easy listen. I thoroughly enjoyed this book from beginning to end. Select, confirm, listen. Thank me, later.

The author narrates his own life story, a very interesting one at that. Some of the other reviews spoke negatively about this, but I will give up a little fluidity in the story to have it told in the authors own authentic voice. The story does jump around from time to time but it really didn’t bother me much…it’s a rich story that I really enjoyed, definitely worth a listen!

Great telling of an interesting life…

I've never spent more time rewinding a book. Listened to several sections twice. The obvious initial draw of this book are the exciting outlaw adventures advertised on the cover. The unexpected that kept me engaged was hearing stories from a very interesting and kind gentleman with the most pleasant Georgia accent I've heard. It's like sitting with a friend and hearing firsthand of his adventures and asides. Except that Roger has lived a life that most of us couldn't imagine if we lived for centuries.
Also unexpected was how after all he's seen and done he maintains his good nature and love of life and people.
I've always preferred audiobooks read by the author, this one wouldn't be half the book with another narrator.

Didn't want it to end.
