Publisher's summary

Years after a strategic attack killed millions and left the twelve states of the Midwest in darkness, the nation struggles to rise from the ashes. After a surprise ambush in Springfield, Missouri sets in motion a deadly chain of events, Miles Arrington leaves for Branson to aid militia in a life-or-death mission.

As communities fall, and survivors turncoat, it’s not long before panic ensues. While Gunnar Nelson and Arianna narrowly escape enemy troops, Miles discovers a horrifying truth about August and a secret that may change the course of this fight forever.

Good Second Installment in the Series

"I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review."

Having enjoyed the first book in this series, I was excited for the opportunity to listen to the next chapter. This book builds really well on the first, developing the characters and deepening the storyline. I like how the author delves into the psychology and motivations behind the primary actors.

Narration was excellent as was the sound quality.

Miles is a humble bada$$!

This third installment was no different than the first two! I don’t want to give anything away but Jack Hunt does a great job at keeping the reader on the edge of his seat in this one! It’s a suspenseful roller coaster of epic proportions! Can’t wait for the next book!

Loved it!

Love everything by Jack Hunt.
This is no exception!
Miles & Gunner are like everyday guys who live like they are superheroes. Al of the side characters were great too. Would love to to know more about Snow. I think he was the most fascinating character of all.
Chris Monreiro did an amazing job narrating this series!

Seemingly Nonstop Action!

Jack Hunt's novel "Panic Ensues" is a great continuation in the series "Outlaws of the Midwest" as there is seemingly nonstop action throughout the entirety of the audiobook.
Having said that, there is a lot that goes on in this audiobook, in fact too much to list for a review. Needless to say it is very much still entertaining and you will be surprised by some of the dramatic scenes in this particular audiobook from Jack Hunt.
The narrator, Chris Monteiro does a consistent job in this second novel following his performance in the first novel.
If you like this review as well as the audiobook's description than by all means buy a copy and enjoy it for yourself.

How many Miles Arrington will answer the call here

Volume two followed much of the same script as volume one. The militia was completely outmanned and outgunned but the militia continued to put up a valiant fight. Civilians struggled internally whether to join the militia, hideout on their own, or give in to become a collaborator. Several enemy entities exist; the PLA, a mercenary group called Death Dealers led by Santiago, and Morgan Jefferies Mayor of Camdenton. The Russians have not yet made an appearance. The second half of the volume focuses on a scary night air attack aka “Base jumping” on Branson aka “the PG version of Las Vegas” to rescue Darius the VIPs believed to be there. I hope you enjoy this exciting addition to the Outlaws of the Midwest series as I did. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Miles' Fight for America Continues

Miles and Gunnar are settling into the militia group that is hiding in the forests and caves of rural Missouri. Miles is seeking information on August’s whereabouts. Gunnar still doesn’t know if Arianna can be trusted. They all continue the fight to take back America.

This second book of the ‘Outlaws of the Midwest’ is more sedate than the first. Don’t get me wrong, there’s still plenty of tension-building action, but the focus changes to the characters. Author Jack Hunt delivers a great look into the motivations of both hero and villain. With this book, the reader begins to understand it’s not about the external forces of invasion and occupation. It’s more about how individuals react to the pressure from outside their norm. Will they become a person that fights for others or instead ruthlessly take advantage for their own pleasure and gain? Hunt’s stellar characterization makes me love Miles and Gunnar even more than before and really, really hate the bastards who gleefully revel in America’s plight.

Once again, Chris Monteiro brings Hunt’s words to life. His voice-acting produces heartfelt emotions in the listener.

This audiobook was given to me at my request as a free review copy. I am now submitting this voluntary opinion of it.

Highly recommended.

Loved this continuation!

This adventure continues with Miles, Gunner and the others still trying to overcome the Chinese and Russians. This one easily kept my interest as I always wondered what would happen next.

At time I was disappointed because I thought certain storyline were dropped after book one. But I just had to bide my time and most of them came along nicely.

This is a great continuation of book 1. I enjoyed it and it does answer some questions. I did listen to this one audio. Chris a Monteiro did the narration and I am happy to listen to him anytime. Very enjoyable!

solid follow up

Panic Ensures is a solid follow up Chaos Erupts and continues the journey to take back America from foreign invaders. Like the first book, there is a ton of action, and while it hits all the right tropes for the genre, I'm a huge fan of the 'heroes' of the story. Not sure why, but I just don't really connect with Gunner or Miles. There's nothing particularly wrong with them, I just don't find that I like them as much as I've liked characters in many of Jack Hunt's other series. That being said, it's still a solid series.
