About this listen

Alex Carlisle owes a debt beyond cash. Once upon a time - all of three months ago - Alex found himself in a foreign land hunted by mercenaries and demon lords. Only the intervention of a sultry, playful jinn got him home again. Zafirah didn't help him for free. Now she's come to collect.

With her sights set on a dangerous family of ancient sorcerers, Zafirah needs every edge. She needs not only Alex, but the friends and lovers he brings with him. Her quest threatens to extract a price from angel, demon, and mortal alike...and most especially the witch who brought them all together.

Mr. Kay you did not disappoint!

This was a treat to read. I love the direction you’ve taken with the characters and the storyline and the politics!! Lorelei’s entrance to the party was awesome. There are new characters to discover and Tess Irondale did an incredible job giving voice to them. I look forward to more.

If you made ot to this last book, then you know this was great ride. I hope in the future they pick up the story again for another couple of books.

Fabulous installment

This is a great addition to the Good Intentions series! Both the performance and story are excellent. While I’m eager to retrace the story to find connections I missed and just enjoy events so far, I’m already puzzling over new questions, possibilities as I settle in to wait for the next installment. I know it’ll be awhile, but it will be worth it. The wait for this volume definitely was!

A Faithful Continuation to a Fun Series.

If you've read or listened to the other books in this series, it continues the story wonderfully. These Characters have quickly become some of my most enjoyed all around. There are some who say that it's too "Political" which strikes me as code for they didn't like that the characters are vocal about certain issues that have reflections in our world today. However, the characters act in the way you'd expect had you followed the series from the start, and I've found it to be quite the satisfying ride. Elliott Kay has created some very enjoyable characters who I look forward to seeing again. Tess Irondale is excellent as always and delivers wonderfully in the performance.

Ignore Political Comments

Ignore these comments about how political the book is. The book has necessary fantasy politics, and a few comments about real life politics going on right now. Key word there is Comments, you barely notice them, and people who are giving 1 star are just people who were offended by the comments and cant just enjoy the book for what it is. Amazing, not as sexual as the other books in my opinion, but that doesn't take away from anything. I hope you enjoy this book and I can't wait for the next in the series.

A second listen did the trick

So, I listened to Past due a second and even third time after having listened to it when it first came out. My initial response was less than luke-warm because I didn’t care for the first chapter or a later chapter where the author seemed as though he just HAD to resolve a couple of the characters personal issues. The second and third time listening, I still chafed at those parts, but knew enough to skip past those parts. Once I did, I thoroughly enjoyed the story.

My initial take has changed and I am revising my review from the first go round. Well done, Mr. Kay.

A good next installment.

I take an enjoying how the characters grow with each other. the kiss point of view and little things like the author still has drawing a sword from the back be a thing will never get them to give stars but consistently a solid four, and I'm brutal typically in reviews so....

Not that it matters too much, I imagine if you've made it this far you're one of the group! invested and I've of us you should enjoy this as the others I feel.

Maybe the only other nitpick is the loosey gooseyness of how effective or not iron nails are, but I try to remind myself the times it felt less effective were with stronger casters...mostly.

Still overall solid and will wait (probably a touch impatiently) for the next.

Good as always!

While a little harder to follow then previous books, Elliot Kay manages to tie up the world building nicely in the end with a compelling story in which the characters feel in constant danger no matter how badass they might seem.

And Tess Irondale continues to be one of the best voice actresses on the market ranking up with the likes of Allyson Johnson and Andrea Parsneu.
