About this listen

Learn how the modern insurance industry functions and dysfunctions.

With Pay Up!, attorney Chip Merlin exposes the bad faith practices of insurance companies that take advantage of their own customers.

The claims process has become so automated that legitimate claims are denied without ever being seen by human eyes. Exceptions and exclusions are buried within small print that can bury your claim. Many claims departments operate under a culture of paranoia in which legitimate claims are denied, sometimes accidentally, sometimes not. Cost-cutting measures birth “self-serve” policies that force the policyholder to do the insurer’s job. Insurance lobbyists are so enmeshed in the political process that it can be hard to know whose side industry regulators are on.

Commercial and individual policyholders pay premiums with the understanding that insurers will pay claims fairly, fully, and promptly. It’s time for the insurance industry to Pay Up!.

The Marshall Fire impacted my family and we have been floundering for months looking for answers. There's so much information regarding the cleaning and restoration process. The reality of the matter is there are very few experts who have the experience to handle a smoke claim. Chip Merlin's book walks you through every step of the process. Don't let insurance carriers manipulate the policy, listen to Chip’s book to become empowered.

I was beginning to experience anxiety as my insurance carrier has significantly delayed my claims process for 8 months. This book shared best practices and real world stories that were relatable. Also, I personally reached out to Chip after listening to this book and he took the time to provide guidance on the claims process.

Spectacular for Wild Fire insurance claims

I am a physician and have had a private practice for 28 years. The abuse from the insurance has been staggering. There was a great movie based on true events that was so horrifying. Try and find movie titled Damaged Care. We pay their salaries! We treat and care for their clients. We want to trust doctors, not some uneducated staff member that is paid well to deny claims when they know nothing about medicine! It is so eye opening and my favorite time of my life was when I was idealistic and excited to help people and make a difference. The greedy insurance companies have jaded me and I tell all young people that want a career in medicine to do something else. It is a terrible profession now. Socialized medicine is NOT the answer! I have many stories from patients that came from Canada. It’s even worse than USA.

EXACTLY!
