About this listen

Will and Blake couldn’t be happier. They have a beautiful little boy, Nathan, and Sophie finally has the little brother she’s been demanding. But all is not bliss in the Davis household. Coping with reality is going to change all their lives.

Rick and Angelo are sick and tired of trying to get a wedding organized. If it was up to them, they’d be married already, but Angelo’s mother has plans and they keep getting bigger. Angelo can see problems on the horizon: Big, traditional Italian wedding and gay do not go well together. Something’s got to give.

Colin receives an unexpected call from an ex, with bad news. He feels compelled to help, regardless of the consequences. Ed loves Colin’s big heart and supports him in his efforts, but when the truth comes out, he finds it difficult to keep a lid on his emotions.

As the coming months unfold, the friends are going to need each other more than ever.

Personal Challenges

This book gives us a look at a group of close friends. Three different couples each dealing with major life changing events but still finding the strength to be there for each other and look toward their friends for help and understanding.

Each of the couples are great together and I loved seeing the camaraderie of the men as a whole. They are a family themselves and give strength to one another when needed. There is a wedding, a new baby, and a painful past to deal with. Each circumstance is different and important. We get to see the depth of the love that each couple has and the strength of it. I enjoyed getting a glimpse back into the lives of these men. The author does a nice job of bringing the lives of these men to a wonderful conclusion. Narrator Cornell Collins does a nice job of bringing the emotions of the men out as he narrates and keeps the story flowing nicely.

Personal Challenges

Personal Challenges is book 4 in the Personal series. I love this beautifully written story with all the feels, have tissues handy. I enjoyed getting caught up with all three couples and the challenges they faced. Will and Blake with baby Nathan, Rick and Angelo on their wedding, and Ed and Colin on the unexpected news about Colin's ex. Definitely recommend.
Narrator Cornell Collins does an absolutely amazing job in bringing these characters to life.

Love it!

I enjoyed listening to this audiobook so much. It's about the 3 couples (Blake and Will, Collin and Ed, and Angelo and Rick) overcoming hard times. I adore the strong friendship between the couples. My favorite part is the surprise near the end.

The narrator is new to me. I love listening to his voice. It fits the characters really well. I forget at times that he is just one person.

I just love the author and her books. I definitely recommend this book.

After the HEA - Moving and wonderful!

We get to revisit all three couples in this final story in the Personal series. Will and Blake seem to have the perfect life with their two children, whom they love intensely. Sadly, their newborn baby son faces some health issues that are not easily solved. Their worry for little Nathan was heart-wrenching and difficult to read. It’s easy to relate to the desperation of parents who just want what’s best for their child and want to protect them from any and all threats and cares. Sadly, that’s not always as easy as we’d like it to be. Rick and Angelo are mostly focused on trying to arrange their wedding, with a lot of well-meaning interference from Angelo’s mother, which at some point is more a hindrance than a help. Diplomacy is key, but they find a way, and Angelo’s mom continues to be a source of support and love in the face of the disapproval of some of Angelo’s very catholic relatives. Ed and Colin have a rough road ahead when someone from Colin’s past reaches out unexpectedly. Colin discovers new, painful things about this past relationship. As he tries to make his peace with these new revelations and be there for his former lover, things get incredibly emotional. I cried some ugly tears as this played out. Ed is the best, as always, absolutely amazing in how he supports Colin. His love for Colin is such a pure and powerful thing, incredibly moving. The book ends on a high note with wedding bells for Angelo and Rick. I adored their wedding! Can’t say more than that without ruining the surprise. But it was just … everything!

Narration: Cornell Collins brings all the guys to life in the best way. I was charmed by each of the voices he did for the main characters in this amazing series. I loved the different accents and timbres he did, and the way he seemed to truly get all of their personalities. Wonderful performance!
