Story
Austen wrote, 'I am going to take a heroine whom no-one but myself will much like' and thus introduces the handsome, clever, rich - and flawed, Emma Woodhouse. Emma is perfectly content with her life and sees no need for either love or marriage; nothing however delights her more than matchmaking her fellow residents of Highbury. But when she ignores the warnings of her good friend Mr. Knightley and attempts to arrange a suitable match for her protegee Harriet Smith, her carefully laid plans soon unravel and have consequences that she never expected.

Story
Dubliners is a collection of short stories by James Joyce that was first published in 1914. The 15 stories were meant to be a naturalistic depiction of the Irish middle-class life in and around Dublin in the early years of the 20th century. The stories were written at a time when Irish nationalism was at its peak and a search for a national identity and purpose was raging; at a crossroads of history and culture, Ireland was jolted by various converging ideas and influences.

Dorothea Brooke is an ardent idealist who represses her vivacity and intelligence for the cold, theological pedant Casaubon. One man understands her true nature: the artist Will Ladislaw. But how can love triumph against her sense of duty and Casaubon’s mean spirit? Meanwhile, in the little world of Middlemarch, the broader world is mirrored: the world of politics, social change, and reforms, as well as betrayal, greed, blackmail, ambition, and disappointment.

With great originality and wit, Orwell unfolds his views on subjects ranging from a revaluation of Charles Dickens to the nature of Socialism, from a comic yet profound discussion of naughty seaside postcards to a spirited defense of English cooking. Displaying an almost unrivalled mastery of English plain prose, Orwell’s essays created a unique literary manner from the process of thinking aloud and continue to challenge, move, and entertain.

Strange pronunciation of certain words
I've never heard "oblige" pronounced this way and never realized how often Ms. Austen used the word! It almost became comical.

A classic, marred by mediocre performance.
This is one of Jane Austen's best stories. However, M. Sarah should have read it a couple times before recording it, or at least watched the movie. Then, she might have some idea how the people of that era spoke. Some of her pronunciations were off, and her timing was terrible. She even said Mrs. Smith was the "eldest" of Capt. and Mrs. W's visitors, when the book says "earliest."

Fantastic Listening!
I loved the reading by Mary Sarah. Her voice carried the story in a way that made me feel the emotion of the characters. Mary Sarah's voice in the reading of Persuasion is an art. Thank you for a most delightful time and I will be looking for more Audible books read by Mary Sarah. As for Jane Austen's Persuasion- the stumbles of love and courtship- do not pass this book up. It is worth reading. The story will stay with you long after...
