About this listen

A broody, broken god and the dark secrets that could destroy us both.

Kieran is here for revenge. He's here to kill the most powerful man in Magical San Francisco—his father. He'll destroy anything in his way.

And I've managed to catch his eye.

I live in the shadows for a reason, split between the worlds of the magical and the mundane. I'm a punching bag for both societies, but with the magic of Hades, it's the only way to stay alive. To stay free. If the powers that be knew what I was, they'd slap me in a cage and make me their weapon.

I have to stay away from him...except the very look of him promises deliciously wicked sin. He's a man you want to taste. To savor, like decadent chocolate.

He's also incredibly powerful, and broken. Dangerous.

I can't let him use my magic. It would destroy the life I've struggled so hard to build. I certainly can't fall for the villain, no matter how good it would feel.

If only it was easy to walk away.

Performed by Yenni Ann, Yasmin Tuazon, Alex Hill-Knight, Lena Lee, Robb Moreira, Rayner Gabriel, Danny Gavigan, Gabriel Michael, Matthew Pauli, Andrew James Spooner, Bradley Foster Smith, Bill Gillett, Chris Stinson, Christopher Walker, Christopher Williams, Colleen Delany, David Cui Cui, Dawn Ursula, Drew Kopas, Eric Messner, Jeri J. Kieran’s voice

The story was entertaining. Alexis monologue was sometimes childish. But the story as a whole was good, entertaining. In this dramatized version Kieran’s voice sounded like 50 year old man and I couldn’t stand it.

I prefer graphic-audio versions

I prefer the graphic audio version. I have a hard time paying attention to just one voice. I prefer the music and theatrical voice overs.

Nope

Throw the whole cast away. Sorry to sound so mean but NONE of them captured the spirit of the characters. It was a lot of bad acting and annoying voices that didn’t match the personalities of the characters. I can give Daisy a pass but not too impressed. Alexis was the worst with a nasally annoying voice. Kearan had no base or hint of an Irish accent, at all lol, and Mordecai was whiny. Ugh! I had high hopes for this one!

The male narrator sounds much too old for the role.

I love this book and this series. I love most of the narration too, but the male narrator is just wrong for the MMC. He sounds too old and I cringe when he flirts in anyway. It’s a bummer, if I’d known before I wouldn’t have purchased. Amazing story and the rest of the narration is incredible!

Another K.F. Breene masterpiece

Very interesting take on Demi Gods and Gods of the sea. I read the reviews from others on Kieran’s voice sounding too old for his character. Once you get to know him, he grows on you. I think he sounds more experienced or seasoned. I cannot wait to hear more!

Awesome presentation

I have read this series several times. Kieran and Alexis are wonderful. I love the way the presentation brought this book to life.

Great plot!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 🖤💙❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏🌍
Character development: ☹️😮😋😉🥰
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration type: Duet – Full Cast Narration – Dramatized Adaptation

The heroine: Alexis - she is poor and lives in the dual society zone, where both the magical and non-magical can live in peace together. She is considered magical, but as far as she knows she hardly has any magic, so is at the bottom of the magical hierarchy. She is a good person and has always been the kind of person to take in strays, like her dead mother. She takes care of two kids, Mordecai who is a shifter that is sickly and takes expensive medication to prevent shifting and Daisy who is non-magical, though is a bit of a wild one.

The Hero: Kieran - he is a wealthy demigod, and is at the top of the magical heirarchy. One day while traveling in his Ferrari in the dual zone among the dregs of society, he comes across Alexis and feels and immediate connection to her. He also feels that she has much more magic than she thinks. Kieran is almost always with his six, who swore a blood oath to him and protect him in exchange for a boost in power.

The Story: Kieran has a background check done on Alexis. He finds out that she is a weak class 2 magical being. Which is different from what he felt from her. He felt she was a class 5, but can’t understand how she has been living for so long as a class 2. She is a huge mystery to him and he can’t get her out of his mind. She fits her profile of a poor class 2 ghost whisperer, but can’t figure out how she has remained untrained and under the radar for so long. Kieran and his six have had a plan for a long time to overthrow his father, Valens and he needs to keep his focus on that plan.

I really liked this book, but was surprised at the fact that this one was less about the interactions between Alexis Kieran and more about Alexis’s life. Though I did like finding out more about her and her powers. This worked very well with the dramatized edition of the audiobook. And the narrators did a terrific job. This audiobook was told in multiple points of view and was narrated in duet narration by a full cast, Matthew Pauli, Andrew James Spooner, Bradley Foster Smith, Yenni Ann, Yasmin Tuazon, Alex Hill-Knight, Lena Lee, Robb Moreira, Rayner Gabriel, Danny Gavigan, Gabriel Michael. Need I say more?

Honestly I don’t get it

I dislike the characters in the book with the “don’t hate me for being magically speech” to her boss was annoying. The love story was horrible and didn’t like the couple together. I don’t get how this book is a 4.5 star. I wish I could get my money back from it.
