Publisher's summary

Now that Alec and his friends have flushed out the spy from within the Royal Academy, they return once again to their studies.

Never far from Alec's mind, however, is the motivations of this spy, and whether their cause is justified. The spy did not reveal the truth of Alec's nature, of his natural magic, but why not?

But such questions become less important when Instructor Brutus calls Alec to begin his private tuition. If Alec is to learn how to use his magic most effectively, to learn the lethal methods of Brutus, then he will have to cast aside all else.

Much Story

We get some good meaty story in this one! Amazing all the things that happens from the moment the previous book ended. As the characters grow, so does the story and we end up with some very satisfying events and battles.

There are a few unlikely events and resultants, but I forgive them, this is an adventurous fantasy, so don't take everything logically serious. It is all just grand storytelling.

Story is good but slow

Kinda slow and with to much description of unimportant things as well as repeats a lot. But story is good once you get to it

Alec is sometimes really dumb

dude can control magic in a million different ways but he doesn't. he just uses his spear or dose the same trick over and over again. and when that doesn't work he try something that is just idiotic. but then there's parts we're he does use his magic in creative smart ways and I'm just like wtf where was this an hour ago

Even better than first 3

Now i am heavily invested in this story. I absolutely love it and can’t wait to see what happens next. This has made me do nothin all day but listen. I highly recommend this series if you have young adults in your household or even if your just a young soul. I love it!

Change in story?

in the first 3 there were no indications that the school was anti-lower class, Then immediately in this book it was non-stop, predictable and over-done. I only made it halfway, but it kind of tarnished Mymonbees (spelling?) who seemed like a father figure.

I'm curious 🤔

I'm really looking forward to finding out that the Arkon is Alec's father
but we'll see 🙈

kind of "Meh"

very short book. while I wanted to like it, I felt myself drifting off in the middle. it was predictable. I mean don't get me wrong, I enjoy your typical boy meets girl story line, but I would of enjoyed the book more with less of the "I love her soo much" and more of the MC learning how to be the mage he is supposed to.
