About this listen

In this emotional short story by number one bestselling author Lisa Scottoline, one man’s past drives him to take a stand against his neighborhood’s criminal underbelly, whatever the personal cost.

When amiable Italian immigrant Pigeon Tony discovers that local drug dealers are pressuring his young neighbor into joining their ranks, he resolves to put an end to the crime wave before it can take over the community. Pigeon Tony knows the law isn’t always on the right side, but it takes only one person to rally a revolution.

Lisa Scottoline’s Pigeon Tony’s Last Stand is part of We Could Be Heroes, a darkly inquisitive collection of short stories that examines heroic intentions versus their real-life consequences. Read or listen to each in a single sitting.

Molto bene

What a great short! Loved all of the Tonys. Being an Italian New Yorker, and having quite a few Tonys in the family, I get it. Great storyline. Will have to check out other Scottoline books.

A neighborhood banning together

What would you do if a drug dealer asked your ten year old to run money for him? Well, these old folks got very creative.

Good short story

Tony and his merry band of seniors enjoy spending their days keeping an eye on their neighborhood and they’re not happy with recent developments. A gang is moving into the neighborhood, recruiting youngsters and selling drugs. When an orphaned boy, who they have taken under their wing, is threatened, Tony has had enough. If the police won’t do anything, then Tony and his crew will! Enjoyable story with great ending.
