He leads an elite taskforce. She did, too. On television.
After the finale of her dazzlingly successful television drama, Pim Moonprowl packs her bags and books passage to a secretive resort that makes alluring claims. She’ll pay anything, promise anything, do anything to find out if they’re true. On an island that’s not on maps, Pim encounters a silver-tongued doctor, a kindred soul, a caged star, and a clever monkey. This is her big chance to put into practice the skills she gained from eight seasons on an elite taskforce.
Boon can almost taste his prey, he’s that close. If only he hadn’t run up against a barrier in the middle of the ocean. He puts out a call and calls in a favor. There’s a plan in place, and reinforcements are en route, but Boon is restless to run the Rogue to ground. Taking a risk—definitely his style—lands him with a couple of responsibilities he really didn’t need, and both of them are female.

If you enjoyed her previous Amaranthine stories, you’ll enjoy this one. And there’s still many threads for future books;-)
Baldree does a good job of narration with clearly defined characters and emotions. He brings the story to life.

Travis Baldree is one of the best narrators I have ever heard. He does all of the voices! 😉 I see the characters he has created by voice alone. He brings his own special magic to Forthy's tales.
Forthy never fails to deliver a captivating tale!

I’ve been eating these stories up since I read the first book. The fifth book was a little lackluster by comparison to 1, 2, and 4 but was at least on par with 3. Then here comes book 6, which was a plot disaster! So much potential completely wasted in a misguided attempt to be woke. *face palm*
I do not read fiction for treatises on modern politics and I sure as heck don’t turn to FANTASY for the author’s opinions on the trans debate in America.
I took off 1 star for the general “letdown” of the story and docked 1 star for the betrayal. Six books into a series and the author suddenly changes from heterosexual couples to several different types of partnerships? I’m not opposed to non-typical relationships in books, but it’s bad form to spring that on your audience six books in. Particularly since mpeg is a common warning and this book is full of it! Not just historical references, but on-the-page mpeg. There are more males getting pregnant here than females. Are we trying to prove some sort of point?
Again, keep your politics out of my fantasy novels.
What was that?
