About this listen

From bestselling author Monica Murphy comes a sweet, sexy story about the secret crush between a college QB and his teammate’s sister, and the obvious chemistry that keeps them in the huddle.

Sienna

I’ve had a thing for Gavin Maddox ever since I was a freshman, but it’s a mission doomed to fail. Of all the guys I could have picked on campus, I had to go too far with the quarterback, my brother’s best friend.

We’ve spent the last two years avoiding each other. It’s not that easy when you have the same friends, not to mention I can’t forget the way it felt to be with him. But I can be civil. Polite. Detached.

I think…

Gavin

Sienna Cooper is off limits—except for that one time. I can’t forget it, but I need to forget her if I want to keep my head in the game. This is my senior year and, more importantly, my last season of college football. I can’t let anything distract me.

I’ve respected Sienna’s boundaries for this long. I can do it for another year.

…Can’t I?

Great Story!

This is the second book in Monica Murphy’s Kings of Campus series. It’s following Siena and Gavin’s story. We met both of these characters in the first book. Their relationship, if you want to call it that, was filled with lots of tension. You weren’t quite sure why Siena could not be in the same room with Gavin. In this book you find out why.

Gavin is the star quarterback for their college team. He is also Siena’s brother Coop’s best friend. Yes, a brother’s friend’s book. I ate it up. There is just something about how Monica Murphy writes her college sports romances that get me every time. The pace of this story was perfect it wasn’t all in all at once but it wasn’t painfully dragged out either. The only reason why I didn’t give this a five stars is because of Gavin’s inability to make a decision. It made want to give Siena a hug and tell her everything will be okay.

All in all, I enjoyed this book. I'm a full emmerssive reader and listening to this audiobook while reading really brought the story to life. The actors and the production team of this audiobook did a great job. It made me wanting book three right now. But I guess I’ll have to wait.

Love, love, loved it!

This was such a great book! The playful banter and internal commentary was hilarious! And there is just something about broody football players that turn into love sick alfas for the women that make them loose control… HOT!!! And let’s not forget the brotherly love between teammates. It is just my kind of story.

Male voice ruined the experience

The male’s voice did not go well with the story. Sounded a little girly at times. The female performer sounded more manly when she did the male voices than him. Ruined the experience.

Gavin and Sienna

If you're like me and can't get enough of a brother's best friend secret romance, then you'll probably enjoy this book! It definitely hit a lot of my favorite tropes such as boy obsessed, sports romance, and found family.

The writing style really pulled me in, and I found myself connecting with the characters. I especially enjoyed learning about Gavin's backstory with his family. Plus, the dual POV was a nice touch, and I loved getting to see things from both Sienna and Gavin's perspectives. The side characters were a fun addition to the story too!

While I enjoyed the book overall, I was hoping for a little more chemistry between Sienna and Gavin. The chemistry just didn't quite hit as much as I wanted it to. I also found myself wishing for some swoon worthy moments. I also would have loved to see them be an actual couple a bit more.

Avery Caris and Victor Quixabas narrated this audiobook in dual narration and were new voices for me, and I thought they did a solid job bringing Sienna and Gavin to life. They definitely helped me get into the story and connect with each one.
