About this listen

Awash with conflict and a building war, the known stars align against Van and his wing of the Guild in a fight for ultimate control.

Van and his crew suspect there's more to the Equal Grasp than just a band of thieves, and they begin their campaign at Bopul Station, a lonely outpost where corruption rules and Peacemakers are feared. To continue the fight and the case, the crew and friends need more than just contacts. They need money.

To that end, Van begins exploring an old mystery about his grandfather, which leads to the shocking discovery—the Earth is being stripped of its history, one object at a time, but that's not the main purpose of the criminals.

Their goals are bigger than just stealing art. Much bigger. One of their targets is nothing less than the end of the Fafnir and Van and everything he represents.

Along the way, Icky learns about motherhood, and Funboy learns about grief, and everyone agrees that cheese is good and pants are bad—sort of.

There's a time and place for everything, and Van will lead his crew for as long as he can.

If he can stay alive—and that's a pretty big if.

Twenty rocks

Another Epic installment in the tale of a space cop. The character development never ceases to pique my interest. The revisiting of things you thought may be forgotten a pleasant surprise.

Unbelievable!

After 19 books I am shocked that I can say unbelievable about book 20. I find myself shocked that a series can keep my interest like this. Not just keep my interest but I must say that I can not wait for book 21. I find these characters to have become my friends and family. When one of the characters is killed I feel it. I guess after 20 books you do that, or perhaps this is a tribute the the writers of the books as well as the very excellent narrator who brings each character to life for many, many, many fine hours of adventure! Well done to everyone involved in this project! This series deserves more stars then are in the universe!

A rewrite of Peacemaker Wars

I guess this series should have ended a few books ago. it's turning into the same plot as Peacemaker Wars. I am done I suppose.

Frustrating nonsensical ending

I’m always frustrated when an author makes lazy choices that go against the growth of characters or against all established logic or rules for the universe just to get to some predetermined ending. In this instance, the author clearly had some place they wanted to take the story of the next few books and concocted a completely nonsensical ending. Clearly the author realized the mistake as well and tried to address it with some “heat of the moment” that MIGHT have worked if every single ship didn’t have an AI that would have immediately recognized the mistake and made the correct decision/recommendation.

I’ve enjoyed this series immensely up to the last few chapters of this book because the author has generally avoided that, even if there have been numerous retcons, especially when it comes to the prequel Peacemaker Wars series.

I’m sure I’ll continue on, but this really is maddening.

This wasn’t a book…

Zero substantive story advancement until the last 4 chapters,…
Van proceeds to get dumber and dumber. making decisions he wouldn’t have in early books because he’s moody?
Basically this is comparable to the last season of game of thrones except it was devoid of any really action or battle for the most part
