About this listen
Down with the Players
Alex finds herself on the shore of a distant place - a world unfamiliar.
A world of fantasy and magic. A world that is a game.
NPCs and players all insist she is an NPC, a part of the world. A part of the code of the game. A part of the fantasy to entertain the players. She rejects the idea, for her memories can't just be lies. Could they?
Alex sets out to establish herself in the sandbox fantasy world, to find her identity, and to weather the storm between the coming players and the inhabitants of the new world.
On the litRPG spectrum, this would be considered a soft litRPG. Don't expect heavy number crunching!
What's in this story:
- Stand-alone story - no unending series
- Female MC
- Less numbers
- Base building
- Magic realism
- Topics that might make Asimov chuckle
- No harems
- Swearing
- Light sexual content
The World:
The Multiverse Virtual Reality, known as the MWR or MVVR, is a collection of atomic-level simulations that exist as games and research experiments. Instance_ID8092, otherwise known as the Otherworld, is a mysterious new Virtual Reality MMO that was recently revealed in the long list of VRMMOs. As soon as the players found the new game, they dove in to find an entire world thriving with NPCs.
The world exists as a geographic copy of pre-war Earth with its inhabitants enjoying a pre-industrial level of technology. Beyond the proliferation of magic, the NPCs use player-given technology daily - airships, muskets, and manatech engines.

It's not easy being the most famous and attractive villain in the United States, but somebody has to do it. And it might as well be Via Rodriguez, aka "Empress." Via's used to outsmarting the ever-so-arrogant Heroes that come her way. Her wicked schemes take an unexpected turn, however, after a getaway gone wrong lands both her and her current foe—the annoyingly perky Electra—in the middle of an unknown land that is definitely not Earth.

Suddenly thrust into a new world where magic, monsters, and character levels are par for the course, Tess will find that simply surviving can be a challenge. It doesn't help that dark forces are stirring, she's woefully underpowered, and spiders keep trying to claw her face off.

The dictatorial Augurs, once thought of almost as gods, were overthrown and wiped out during the conflict, their much-feared powers mysteriously failing them. Great story.
Ok so the overall story/theme/plot/characters, amazing. This book is well written and entertaining. However, there are a lot of audio/editing issues that should seriously be addressed. The narrator was great but the dang audio issues almost ruined things. Even with the issues, it’s clear that this is a well thought out story. In my opinion the book is worth reading. The audiobook needs works. If they revamp this one and fix things, I want a free copy. I deserve it.

Decent stand alone novel
I liked a lot of this book, I enjoyed most of it quite a bit but I did have some issues with it. Sometimes the MC seemed super horny/thirsty, it was like everybody wanted to get in her pants and okay with that (even if she just said she wasn't.
The ending felt rushed and drawn out at the same time. And the magic system seemed really cool but mostly ended up not mattering in the end (i.e. levels stopped mattering so the system no longer mattered)
but I liked the book overall

The author did a Darn Fine Job!
It was very well crafted overall. I wish the MC had been less naive and more strong headed earlier on than when the author allowed her too. On the other hand... is seemed necessary... for how she evolved... after her "first"... "heartbreak." Because oh girl was loyal to supidity... to the point that even was like... okay... thats enough lol. I'm glad that didnt drag on for too much longer lol. There were also times where... I wondered why some thinhs "weren't" happening... and the first heartbreak made sense too. So again... this author is dope. The book also displays characters. I mean... it gets to the nitty gritty of race... evolution... revolution... scienctific theories in amd with technology... and throws in some magic and very light lit rpg and game mechanics... enough to parch your throat lol. I almost think the Star Trek nation would be a little proud.

Amazing story
I loved the story, and the narrator does a fantastic job of making the characters come alive. I found myself laughing out loud at some of the antics, and nearly in tears when certain characters died. The author does a great job of pulling you into the world and rooting for the NPC's to win.
The recording was well spoken, and I did love the animation of the narrator, but there were a lot of repeated lines in the audio format. Maybe 1%, but it was noticeable, especially since I was following along with the text while on a treadmill to keep my mind off the workout. Otherwise very enjoyable.

one of the best in the genre
This book takes the genre and spins it on its head from a new perspective, Non Player Characters. With the immense level of creative writing brought together with descriptive imagery, and a tasteful dash of humor and sarcasm. The talented and captivating writer, and narrator are able to pull you in and keep you glued to the seat for the ride untill the epic ending.
The book name is what grabbed my attention Polyglot();
I was pleasantly surprised, and entertained at every turn. As a programmer I loved the magic system, and code snippets. Offten after hearing a snippet with it's description my inner programmer would split off, and try to piece together how I would write it.
Favorite part was ishimiself, was so funny I had to replay it for another laugh.
Anyways 10/10 would hear again.

Good idea, to much sex
Narrator is great, story idea is great, but I'm not interested in lesbian sex or any other graphic sex depictions. Half way in the story gets clouded by unnecessary "Fan Service". I finally gave up.

Really fun story, great performance.
I really enjoyed this one. I liked the characters and the plot, and ending and final parts battles are so ridiculous they are amazing. I appreciate that in the end all the loose ends are tied up and that this is not a half finished novella branded as part one of a series never to get a part two. . It is a complete narrative with good development and decent pacing. While it doesn't stray too far of the core concept of MC starts at level 0 and eventually is unstoppable, the journey to that point felt far more earned and explained than many other tales I've read in this genre.
All that said while the performance itself was very good, I really enjoyed the narrator's voice and inflections, it needed another editing pass. There are a few areas where a mistake is made and the phrase is restarted but it was not edited out. Also some background noise and mic bumping. I really feel that the performance deserves a better edit because otherwise the delivery was very enjoyable and I would love to hear this narrator again.
I really have nothing bad to say about this other than I feel like there is potential here for an even better story so I will be on the lookout for this author in the future.
