Publisher's summary

Long before there was a mountain man called Preacher, a young adventurer set off with a team of fur traders from St. Louis for the time of his life. On a wild frontier, he sought a fortune. Instead, he found blood, betrayal, and the beginning of a legend. Armed only with a knife, surrounded by a fierce Blackfoot war party, the young man was forced to kill a warrior chief in an act of audacious courage. But when a grizzly bear attack left him half-dead, he could no longer protect himself. By the time the Blackfeet found him again, he had been abandoned and double-crossed, with only one last trick up his sleeve: the ability to talk himself out of an impossible situation - and into a battle for his life.

So began William Johnstone's masterful saga of the courageous loner who would become known as Preacher. Because when he was alone and desperate, he drew on a preacher's skills - and a mountain man's cunning - to give his enemies hell.

Some repetition

Great story line even though there was quite a bit of background repetition. it is a read that should appear earlier in the series in my opinion

From Art to Preacher

I liked this book. It told me how he came by his name. Also that he was a young pilgrim from the east and was taken in by a couple old mountain men teaching him how to survive his n the high lonesome.

Should be book three

The last three books should have been the first three books. Seem out of order, and ought to be renumbered in the series. This is one of the books that I liked a lot, except for the rambling in chapter form. Always interesting. Mr. Turner is always amazing! Love the narration.

the voice actor wasn't my favorite but he grew on me. not all bad I guess

disappointed

having invested time and money, struggled through the often obvious difference in authors, and the rise and fall of narration I have to give up.. I've listened to the entire series to this point and finally had enough though I enjoyed many of the characters in these as well as the smoke Jensen series.. This book was an utter disappointment. The ending was completly out of character for the man, Preacher would have never left his men or Jenny in some shithole and road off.. I was truly looking forward to him running down the banker and setting things right..poor form from the authors, fell way short, seems to be a short story for more money.. funny how that works just like the many devious men you write about, bring in your reader and leave them hanging..
