Publisher's summary

Working in the ER of a small South Carolina hospital, Dr. Rhea Lynch has seen it all - most of it at 2:00 a.m. But when an interracial couple is rushed in, beaten and bloodied by a mysterious hate group, the patients show signs of a fast-acting pulmonary infection Rhea has never seen before. Within hours, it proves fatal.

Soon, more victims are rushed in, and an epidemic has Dawkins County in an icy grip of terror. As the puzzling illness claims more lives by the hour, Rhea begins to draw some startling conclusions about the nature of the illness...and about its connections to the military.

How could something like this have happened in this peaceful community? Can it be stopped? Every second counts as Rhea desperately tries to fit the pieces together - and soon realizes that she is dealing with something bigger and more terrifying than she could ever imagine.

A roller coaster ride

Once you think you figured the plot out, bam, a twist happens to make sure head spin. My favorite part of the story is that you cannot figure it out. If you're looking for mystery, a thriller, and suspense, this is your book. It is more than a medical thriller.

I Enjoyed This Series

If you could sum up Prescribed Danger in three words, what would they be?

It was interesting

What does Carol Hendrickson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She brought the flavor of the characters.

Any additional comments?

It was a good book, with a great narrator. It kept me following the story intently.

Very good medical mystery

I greatly enjoyed the medical mystery provided by this author. I have never before heard that you will laid out and clearly knowledgeable hospital drama. Having been in critical care for 27 years, and having spent much of that time in the ER,I really will subject myself to the horrors of a poorly written medical story.

My only objection to the story is the unfortunate light in which the nurses are viewed. I imagine if the author got their experience of hospitals in the south, perhaps the antiquated views depicted in this set of novels is accurate. However it must be said that it is demeaning to nurses to be referred to as subordinate to doctors, to be denied collegiality and suspected when there are new as needing oversight so they don't kill someone.

Gripping

Dr. Rhea Lynch has people dying in her emergency room of what looks like a pulmonary infection. They die quickly from whatever is attacking their internal organs.

In Dr. Lynch’s attempt to learn more about the infection/epidemic, she is caught up in the midst of a hate group, religious fanatics and a terrorist germ warfare attack.

The book is well written and is fast paced and suspenseful. I could hardly put the book down until it was finished. The story has lots of action and the plot is filled with twists and turns. The characters are most interesting and unusual. I am looking forward to reading another book in the series. Carol Hendrickson does a great job narrating the book.

Could not finish the book

I am very sad to say but I could not finish listening to the book because of the narrator Carol Hendrickson! Her tone of voice and the speed was pressured all through the book! I felt uneasy and tense and could not enjoy the book! I will not purchased another book that is narrated by her. I’m sorry to say.

stereotypes

Did not appreciate the author's stereotype of the characters and the narrator portrayal of how black/english people talk. Narrator was horrible in my opinion

Narrator

What would have made Prescribed Danger better?

This is the second of two books I have ever returned to Audible! I can't tell anything about the story because the narration was so awful and irritating I quit listening. I returned this one as well as the other one by Gwen Hunter, Delayed Diagnosis, because the narration was so distracting.
