About this listen

The Thramas Crusade draws to its inevitable conclusion, with the forces of the Dark Angels and the Night Lords locked in a struggle which neither side can abandon.

The Night Haunter lies comatose after being mauled by his primarch brother Lion El'Jonson, and in his absence it falls to Sevatar and the remaining members of the Kyroptera to command the Legion. But the self-styled 'Prince of Crows' has his own plans to save the Night Lords from annihilation - plans he intends to follow, with or without his comrades in tow.

40K at its finest!

I haven't liked most of the audio books from black library that i have listened to. Way to much shooty sound effects and not enough good story. This one was really good, and had me pulled into the story trying to figure out what was going to happen. I was trying to remember some of the 30k lore that i know about Curze, who is definitely not the main character in this book, and loving how it all turned out. It really brings the flavor of the Night Haunter to the table, yet from his point of view he is the Jesus Christ of Nostramo. Holy crap, this book just really made me appreciate what happened to Curze and how messed up he is. Great story. highly suggested.

“Ladies.”

Sevatar... ah, Jago. Best character in 40k hands down and this novella gets straight to the heart of that.

Excellent and required reading Night Lord story

A focus on Sevatar and an insight into Konrads youth on Nostramo. Very good character work.

OUTSTANDING!

One of the very best Horus Heresy works in the entire catalog! It is Dembski-Bowden at his very best! Also, highlights Jonathan Keeble's talents as a narrator!

Terrible Voicing

The story is amazing, much like most of ADB. However, the voice acting is atrocious. So bad it actually pissed me off listening to an otherwise awesome story, about an awesome and interesting legion. Voicing Jago this way took away everything, he sounded like a weak, pathetic, Smeagle-like character, not the monstrous badass warrior he is. I have no idea how this was acceptable, by any standard. TERRIBLE.

one of the shorter books but well worth it

how Jago is written in this is hilarious. one of the few characters that is memorable. I have over 70 40k books downloaded and out of all the 40K characters his is displayed as the most authentic. Great story

Great ride

Fastest four hours I’ve ever listened to would’ve liked more to listen to, but I think it works out just right for the full price or on sale. It’s a great deal if you’re looking to hear more of the night lords

Sev is the hero the Night Lords deserve.

As a Night Lords player, this book really gets me fired up and provides a lot of potential for back stories for my army. It also gives great insight into the phyche of the Night Haunter and the legion as a whole.

Only True Author of the 8th Legion

Once again Aaron Dembski-Bowden teaches an absolute master class in story telling. Also, this is the only author to treat the 8th as more than just the punching bags of other 40k (and 30k) storylines. If you really love the Nightlords, and all of the heroes in midnight clad, then this is for you. All of ADB’s stories of the 8th are for you. This author is able to fairly grip the 40k universe in a way that brings the story to life and puts the reader there as it happens.

Keeeeble... you are a fine voice actor for other characters. So why have you done this to us? I hate your take on Curze and Sevatar. You have insulted the 8th Legion and all of its fans with your performance in this book and the Primarch Konrad Curze book. You read Curze as though he were a serpentine Sméagol with zero base in his voice. Have you ever even seen a picture of him? FFS man! And now you further add insult to injury with your take on Jago Sevatarion, the greatest single combatant Astartes (yeah he beat Sigismund even if DQ’d)? How dare you, sir!? You portrayed Sevatar with such a weak nasally voice that I thought you were joking. Seriously? All I hear in your performance, is this legend’s voice, as Squidward from Sponge Bob. What a desecration. Surely you are trolling us fans at this point.

Near flawless. ADB has treated us to a defining moment at the end of the Thramas Crusade. This story brings to life one of the most infamous Astartes First Captains of all the legions, Jago Sevatarion. The author delivers tremendous depth of the characters and the battles that rage around and within them. I am grateful every time this author is commissioned to write more Nightlords canon and this story is worth every penny for that.
