Publisher's summary

Heaven refers to them as Misplaced Halos. Humans don’t even know they exist. This faction of celestial warriors was sent here under the cover of darkness to protect humanity from Lucifer’s demons. In return for their servitude, these warriors expect only one thing: the eternal love they were promised, what angels refer to as an amsouelot.

The first of his kind, Obsidian has spent the past 1,500 years fighting alongside his brothers, protecting humans from Lucifer’s demons, all while keeping to the shadows. Their mission is simple. Right up until it isn’t. The day Obsidian learns of a traitor in Heaven is the day everything changes. The entire reason for his existence is put on hold because there’s a new assignment: find the female whose soul belongs to his and protect her, no matter the cost.

Penelope Calazans spends her days sleeping and her nights serving free drinks to the gamblers looking to win big in Sin City. It’s not a glamorous life, perhaps a tad lonely, but she’s content. Or she thought she was. Then he appears. The mystery man who would turn out not to be a man at all but rather an angel. The angel who would turn Penelope's mundane life upside down, revealing what really lurks in the dark.

Not only do they have to battle the demons looking to possess their souls, but Obsidian and Penelope must overcome the obstacles that come with falling in love. In the end, an angel and a human must make the ultimate sacrifice, all in the name of a love everlasting.

Interesting

The author makes the flow of the book intriguing. The narrator is easy to listen to. I found this book interesting on the way you become a fated mate to an angel. #AudiobookObsession

Good Audio from a new to me author

Nicole Edwards is a new to me author. I've listened to a few books narrated by Rich Miller and he is a very talented narrator with a smooth and soothing voice. This one was monotonous to me, the story was good and narration done right but I think it would have benefited from being a dual narration. For me, it is hard to listen to an almost 13 hour book with the same narrator in 3rd person. Rich did a great job and the story was good, but it was just really long. I enjoyed the characters and the twists and turns. Overall, a good listen.

New romance series with plenty of hotness

This is the first book of the series. Nicole does a good job of building the basis for the series. For her first run of a paranormal it is good, but there are a few things that I noticed. She seemed to incorporate her favorite parts from other paranormal books into hers. In the beginning I was unsure of how well I would like the book, BUT the further I read the better the book got and started to pull you in. I look forward to watch her gain momentum in this style of writing. Ready for her to bring on the next.

This was good!!

With Black Dagger Brotherhood similarities, this book about warrior angels caught my attention. This story of how the warriors search for their soulmates was interesting and I found myself drawn to these characters.

Penelope’s life changes very quickly and she falls fast. There’s a lot going on in this.. and I. Any wait to see who’s next!

Rich Miller’s voice is perfect for these brothers.

fated mates

The first book lays the ground work for the beginning of the Misplaced Halos Series. They are Angels here on Earth, to protect the Human race from the demons and Lucifer. Also, they are on the hunt for their fated human lover. If the demons. get to the Angels human mate, they will no longer exist. Obsidian is the first of the brothers to find his fated mate, Penelope. Their connection is electric, sexy and everlasting. This is a great start to this series!
Rich Miller narration shows the love and emotions in this story. I enjoyed listening to this story.

Great beginning

This is the first book I've read/listened to by Nicole Edwards as well as it being a genre that is not my norm. This is Obsidian and Penelope's story. I'm looking forward to more and the bigger picture expanding.

Since I'm unfamiliar with the paranormal, I'm not certain about the normal traits of Angels, Demons, etc. But I was able to follow the story without trouble and enjoyed it as well.

Rich Miller started out sounding like he was just reading. But once the story got going, the performance was better. I'm thinking it was how the narration was written. I really like his voice and think he's a great narrator.

Should've been two narrators!

This definitely should've been a dual narration! Would have been perfect if a female did Penelope's parts but instead it was a monotonous male voice for the entire almost 13 hours!!! Have no idea what people think when they are casting...
This is the start of a new series and Ms. Edwards first ever paranormal romance which is one of my favorite genres when done right. I went into this hoping I would love it like I do all of her work but there was a lot going on and it got confusing more than once which caused me to have to go back an listen to parts to try and figure out what exactly was going on. The only other issue I had was this book was very tame for Nicole and lacked the signature heat I have loved from her in the past therefore I felt while the main characters had chemistry it wasn't with the usual combustion she sets the pages on fire with.
Obsidian is an angel that protects humans from the demons of Lucifer. He along with his brothers learn that their soulmates are in danger after someone got ahold of a list that is supposed to be sacred. With only her name to go on he must find her somewhere in North America before Lucifer gets ahold of her.
Penelope moved to Las Vegas to be close to her brother and works nights as a cocktail waitress. She lives a rather lonely existence with only her best friend in Los Angeles to talk to until a giant beautiful man walks into her life and turns it upside down. Everything she thought only existed in her favorite books lurks around every dark corner and she has no idea what's coming next.

Young Adutl except for the language

Painful story, reminds me of high school or junior high boys in a locker room trying to sound cool.

I love the venue, but this book is just weak.

Narrator was as good as he could be with this story. 😮

** Listened an hour + more, I think the story was written by a young adult, language poor, plot didn't develop, and what a waste.
