Publisher's summary

Eighteen years ago the Starship Enterprise thwarted an alien invasion from another universe, and Captain Robert April took possession of the interdimensional transfer device that made it possible. Since then each captain of the Enterprise, from Christopher Pike to James T. Kirk, has guarded this secret with his life.

Now Romulan agents have succeeded in stealing the device and are using it to banish Ambassador Sarek and Councillor Gorkon to an unknown realm in the midst of their groundbreaking Federation-Klingon peace negotiations. With time running out as interstellar war looms in one universe - and alien forces marshal in another - will Captain Kirk and his crew preserve the tenuous peace and reclaim the key between the dimensions?

Excellent and faithful I

Enjoyed this trilogy. Had trouble putting it down. Faithful to the original STOS. Great reader.

Refreshingly Enjoyable

Since I listened to the series out of order, this was the first Star Trek audio book I have listened to and I found it very enjoyable. It was fun to listen to the descriptions of the familiar characters and heard about a new adventure. I look forward to listening to more.

Way above expectations

The narrator was awesome. He managed the voice to sound like the original Enterprise crew. He captured the cadence and accents the best I've ever heard. There was actually no need to state who was speaking. You knew. My Coy was the only one that sound like the new crew from the movies.
When the narration part would say "and Kirk said with a slight smile" you could hear the smile as the words Kirk was to say were said. The performance was better than first rate. I shared audio clips with fellow Fans and they were just as impressed as I was.
The 3 book storyline sucked me in completely. The TV hasn't been on for days while I listened instead. I usually save audio books for commute time but I just couldn't stop there.
This is one that I could visualize so completely I felt I was right there with them.
I even had to tell a co-worker over the weekend that I'm just done for the day with work problems and I have to get back to the Klingon and Enterprise battle. Everyone else can just wait!
I can't say enough about it.
This is actually the first time I've even bothered to write comments about an audiobook and I've listened to many of them.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

A Fine Finish

Another wonderful reading by Mr. Petkoff with a story that provided a fine ending to this trilogy. I applaud not taking the expected paths, for the most part with the ending and making use of all the elements and characters introduced. At first look it appeared that the extras were provided for background flavor, but everyone had their part to play. While there were a few disappointments, none of them had to do with either story and, of course, performance, merely choices I wish had gone another route. Although these were few and with one, I can see the more dramatic turn was the exciting choice, instead of a satisfying choice, the other, it felt like it was added simply for the sake that someone had to pay a price, yet I was pleasantly surprised it was only one. This was not a story with a body count, because someone felt there had to be a body count. Overall, I enjoyed it, especially the wrap up, with Starfleet and the Federation being the Starfleet and Federation I grew up admiring since I first enjoyed Star trek back when it began. Characters that were easy to invest in and a setting to love with a story that provided a framework to enjoy them with were all found in this end of the Legacies trilogy.

Purgatory Key

I really enjoyed book 3. I would like to have seen the story go a little further to show what happened with Captains Kirk and Una once they got back to Starfleet, Robert Petkoff was awesome as usual.
