About this listen

Are you willing to settle for an ordinary life? Or do you think you were meant for something better? Something special?"

One grew up in the cornfields of Iowa, fighting for his independence, for a way out of a life that promised only indifference, aimlessness and obscurity. "You will forever be a child of two worlds, capable of choosing your own destiny. The only question you face is, which path will you chose?"

The other grew up on the jagged cliffs of the harsh Vulcan desert, fighting for acceptance, for a way to reconcile the logic he was taught with the emotions he felt.

In the far reaches of the galaxy, a machine of war bursts into existence in a place and time it was never meant to be. On a mission of retribution for the destruction of his planet, its half-mad captain seeks the death of every intelligent being, and the annihilation of every civilized world.

Kirk and Spock, two completely different and unyielding personalities, must find a way to lead the only crew, aboard the only ship, that can stop him.

"The wait is over."

Fantastic!

This was really really good. I'll grant it was probably mostly because Zachary Quinto's narration was fantastic, but I also enjoyed the story as an expansion of the movie. Totally worth the purchase. He was able to do every single voice and made me feel like I could see each person speaking. Honestly fantastic.

An enjoyable listen - love it!

Zachary Quinto was an excellent choice as the narrator of this book. His voice is clear, easy and enjoyable to listen to. The author has written in a way that you truly visualize what is being said - nodding, laughing, chuckling and understanding youth, either by personal experience or vicariously through the young up coming crew of a starship.

it was okay

mentally comparing to the movie while listening... a little disappointed. Quinto‘s performance was enough to get me to the end.

Incredibly Voiced. Highly Recommended

I am an early fan of the OST series & also enjoyed the 3 Chris Pine movies. This audio adaptation/novelization of the 1st Pine movie was faithfully produced & the narration by Zachary Quinto incredible. He captured the nuances of Scotty, Spock, McCoy, Sulu, Chekov, Kirk, Uhura superbly. Of my 100+ completed audios, This audio is now my #1 favorite (surpassing The Hobbit, narrated by Andy Serkis). I will be looking to see if other novelizations have been written, produced & narrated by the this group. Highly Recommended to Star Trek fans.❤️

Very enjoyable

Excellent rendition by Quinto, I was afraid it would sound like his characters both on Star Trek and Heros, as they are similar in that they are anti-emotive and non-emotive respectively, however he portrayed different characters with aplomb and the narration was engaging. The book (imo)as always is better than the movie, which I enjoyed, it explains a bit more background of the story. Listened to on a long road trip- enjoyed by young(er) and old(er) alike, made miles fly by. No trouble with the download or the recording, via mp3 player.

Basically the movie

I thought a tie-in was supposed to be something extra, more background, or extra stories or some such. However, this is an almost literal novelization of the movie. Well done, but I had recently watched the movie and this felt like a repeat because of it.

So don't expect much extra, consider it an audible version for long roadtrips behind the wheel and then you'll be fine.

Zachary Quinto is of course a great narrator and is an absolute bonus for this audiobook.
