About this listen

The Federation races to discover the culprits of several terrorist attacks, sending their flagship, the USS Prometheus, to stop war breaking out in the galaxy.

A mysterious terrorist organisation has carried out several attacks against the Federation and Klingon Empire. Tensions are running high in a region already crippled by conflict. The perpetrators are tracked to the Lembatta Cluster, a mysterious region of space whose inhabitants, the Renao, regard the Alpha Quadrant s powers as little more than conquering tyrants. The Federation are desperate to prevent more bloodshed, and have sent their most powerful warship, the USS Prometheus, into the Cluster to investigate the threat before all-consuming war breaks out.

This narrator will infuriate any Trek fan. He really hurts my CDO (thats OCD with the letters in alphabetical order like they should be damn it!). Pronunciation of the following will just piss you off: Beeta-quadrant instead of beta quadrant, tall shire instead of Tal Shiar, Kellar instead of K'Ehleyr, and many, MANY others. It just goes on and on....So far its a good story, and I am glad they are starting to get Trek books in here, but get someone else please.

Narrator is infuriating...

The VA could do with watching the show sometimebas he misprounces words that are common in the show. Raktajino (rack-tə-jeen-oh) is especially heinous as its spoken in nearly ever episode of DS9.

Mr Newman otherwise does an excellent job, but someone in production, direction, or Mr Newman himself should have caught that.

Well written problem in narration

it would have been so much better if he had stopped mispronouncing so many of the words

narrator mispronouncing words

Story is very good. The characters are well written and they do a very good job of keeping to cannon. However there is a huge BUT. The way the reader pronounces alot of the words like Betzoid and other such words. It is obvious he has never watched Star Trek. Instead has just pronounced the words in his native dialect. It is very distracting and pulls me out of the story.

It is a good story BUT...

One of the better Star Trek novels around.

Join an new crew and a new ship on a fantastic journey that never drags.

Fantastic story, well read.

Overall it's a good and interesting story. It does drag in places especially when jumping from place to place where in each you just start to get involved with the characters they die... Not so unusual for ST except how much it happens. By the end it starts to come together and I do want to listen to the 2nd one.

Overall a good story but struggles

it was ok. previous books have been much better. the reader obviously he never watched at shows or movies

Not bad, but not good

Anyone complaining about the pronunciations needs to get over it. Not everyone pronounces everything the same even in the Star Trek series. The only really annoying one is beta being said as "beeta". but that's just the way the Scots say it and that what the narrator is. Really think about it, did Scotty or Checkov pronounce anything "correctly"? No they didn't. Get over it.

That being said, it's a good solid adventure and the narrator does a good job.

Good solid Trek.

The story though intriguing was spoiled by horrific narration and unbearable mispronouncements that spoiled it.

Dissapointing Narration

To the whiners out there who have complained about the narrator for this book need to stow it and realize that his accent accounts for most of this. He could have used a half hour of coaching on some terms for those of us used to North American speech. I look forward to more stories from the Prometheus.

Great story and Characters.
