Pine Barrens, New Jersey. Ava Carlisle lives every day as her last. With a heart condition making her brutally aware tomorrow isn’t guaranteed, the new bride is determined to enjoy what time she has with her beloved. But the dreamy trip home from their wedding in Atlantic City quickly turns into a nightmare when a vicious maniac on a motorcycle runs their car off the road.

After the stranded couple makes their way in shock to a nearby diner, Ava has a sudden vision of a mysterious girl who shares her face. And when the relentless rider shows up again and slaughters a restaurant full of people, she flees for her life fearing the terror has barely begun.... I’ve listened to several audiobooks but this is one I really think they should make into a movie. I would love to see this on the big screen. I’m a huge horror fan and this was good horror.

Suspenseful

**Pre-listen Impressions: Short Horror book with strong slasher vibes. Summary reminds me of a cross between the hitcher and Joyride (movies). Feeling both hopeful and reluctant.

**Initial Impression: Very underwhelmed for the 1st few chapters.

**Mid-Listen Impression: Story picks up from the 2nd act. Lots of action, lots of violence and carnage. I believe the novel earned its "Horror" creds here. While I didnt personally find it scary or horrifying. I cant lock down the exact reason, but I believe the narrators voice had alot to do with it. I feel like a deep voiced slightly ominous narrator really hammers home the horror.

**Post-listen impressions: I just listened to a cross between the Hitcher, Joyride, and The Terminator written by Riley Sager.

**Story: 3 Stars (Story was good. There seemed to be back story that didnt go anywhere, while also having potentially useful other backstories that werent fully formed. A solid horror story.)

**Narrator: 3 Stars (The narrators voice is beautiful and clear. She does multiple voices well. I just cant imagine her voice stirring fear in me, regardless of what she read.)

**Over All: 3 Stars

**I recieved this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

Reminded me of a Riley Sager novel

What do you get when combine the two? A fun pursuit!!! This was a solid read about a girl being pursued by a guy on a motorcycle, only he’s so much more than that!

3.5 The trouble with Friday the 13th rip-offs is they always feel the need to add some kind of elaborate metaphor when people want an old-school, violent action movie. So the fact that Pursuit is an old-school "Jason meets The Terminator" slasher is refreshing. This one kind of reminds me of Cameron Roubique’s Kill River series in that it's unpretentious and focused on action and character. A supernatural zombie biker becomes fixated on a pair of newlyweds and makes their life a living hell with a high body count. The biker details were interesting, the police station scene was memorable, and just good fun.

Surprisingly Solid Survival Slasher

I love the relentless pursuer villain type and this book certainly did it right. Think Jason meets Sons of Anarchy and you have your villain. The kills were well done and well described and the suspense almost never let up. My only gripe is with some of the dialogue and particular part describing how someone’s head looked, it just felt odd. Still a 5 star though.

Relentless Pursuer done right!

Kaine weaves a tight and intense tale of hunter vs hunted. Who will win when the an unstoppable force comes? Unforgiving and emotionless. This is definitely a great read, the narrator is fantastic and helps make it an experience.

A solid and taught thriller

I have two hour’s left and I’m having an extremely hard time finishing this book, especially when there’s a F-bomb every thirty seconds; makes me question the writing capacity and narration capacity of the individuals involved.
