Publisher's summary

Chaos. Where the universe ends, and reality begins.

Everyone knows that Chitzas are masters of spatial compression, routinely exploring distant places across the Milky Way in their wedge-shaped scout ships. But rumors abound of even greater accomplishments. Some say these intrepid explorers have reached beyond the galaxy.

When a distress signal is received from deep space, making sense of the emergency becomes a personal matter for Daniel Rice. His wife is onboard that ship. Has it been destroyed? No one knows, but searching for survivors won't be Daniel's only problem. The distress signal comes from a region so remote that light itself has not had time to reach our eyes. The Chitzas may have ventured beyond the cosmic horizon.

Compelled to seek the truth, Daniel must follow the Chitzas' path across vast reaches of space to a mysterious planet in an unusual galaxy. What he learns will take him even further from home—to a place ruled by chaos.

I enjoyed the first 4 books in the series

Having listened ( audio books ) to the first 4 books, and enjoying them... it was very pleasant listening to his 5 installment.
I have no way to know for sure, but it seems to me Mr. Phillips authored book 5 for fun. Just a wild ride into the universe or universes, with best guess to what lay out there. For me it was enjoyable to go for the ride with them. Its seemed to be lighter writing, just done , just because!!!. Much like people climb mount Everest because its there, we explore the cosmos because its there. While some readers and listeners might argue that some aspects of book couldnt possible happen, others might resent the lack of acknowledgement of a supreme being, in the creation of our universe, it is well to remember, this is sci fiction. Yes, Phillips makes use of some current theories, he is writing scific and I happen to think he does it well. Danniel is in search of his wife, who has accepted a ride or mission to explore uncharted regions of the universe. The search leads them to the edge of our universe, an possible the answer to the creation of the universe. Because I enjoyed this book, Im trying not to put in any spoilers..... ok just one, he does find his wife, they reunite.... but that is no guarantee they survive the journey to the edge of the known universe. I suggest you read or listen for yourself, and decide, if you like Phillips view of , well everthing LOL enjoy

All That Science

It all makes sense to me. When the characters talk amongst themselves explaining their theories, I understand it.

More please!!

I binged this entire series this past week and I’m hungry for more! I absolutely love this journey we’re taken along. But what I love even more is getting a peek into the sorts of things our scientists might imagine when exploring the boundaries of the universe. I cannot wait for more in this series! Hopefully the author isn’t done with these characters yet!

Lost in Narration: When a Good Book Meets Cringe-Worthy Performance

My experience with this book was significantly marred by the narrator's handling of dialogue. Her rendition, especially of male characters, was not just unconvincing but intensely cringe-worthy. It was a jarring distraction that detracted from the story, and it has made me decidedly hesitant about choosing future titles narrated by her.

Increasingly far-fetched

I love that the physics concepts are presented to be accessible, but the writing is really reaching at times. The characters' escaping certain death *every time* and coming back to their lives like nothing happened is cheesy and let's down the whole thing.

Quantum and string theory, theory discussions and talking leaf.

Performance was not what I prefer, I’m used to other narrators and mostly as an auditory preference and nothing against, just too monotonous for me.
