Publisher's summary

A pulsating sci-fi thriller from the author of the global blockbuster Not Alone—perfect for fans of Andy Weir and A.G. Riddle.

I wasn’t supposed to survive.

The station has been hit. Everyone around me is dead.

I have 11 hours of life support left and no way of contacting Earth.

I’m alone. I’m stranded. I’m desperate.

But I’m alive.

The more of the station I explore, the surer I get that this was no accident. Someone did this, and I don't think they're finished yet.

Making it home feels like an impossible task, but I'm not just fighting for my own life.

I have to protect my family—whatever it takes.

And as long as I’m breathing, this isn't over.

Because whoever did this almost pulled it off...but they made one big mistake: They left the wrong man standing....

Character driven, intelligently written and perfectly narrated……

Exceptional and engaging writing combined with outstanding narration makes this one of my favorite series. I’m binge listening, on Book five ‘Reason To Fear’. The characters are intelligent and likable, especially Lika, the genetically enhanced parrot (whose intelligence is only surpassed by his sweetness). MC Ray faces the terrifying reality that he’s stranded in space with only his wits, skill set and the motivation of his family’s love, to get home to them anyway he can. A highly recommended nonstop listen.

Great book

This is a great book. I’m really glad that the next book in the series is already available because I don’t want it to stop there. The narrator is amazing too.

Good on process but lacks the realism aka hard sci-fi

I would have likes the story to have more concrete physics and science. The whole station artificial gravity was tough to accept on a whim.

Tedious, unfunny, unscientific

A near future scifi with artificial gravity but no simple safety procedure on a space station.

Entertaining but derivative

Don’t get me wrong, I was extremely entertained. As at least one of the critics said, this is exactly like Andy Weir. However, it’s a lot lighter on the explaination of the problem solving. The tone of the narrator adds to this copycat (I’m about to die but being snarky about it). If you’re simply looking to be entertained (as I was when I downloaded it) it’s a good choice.

Stream of Consciousness

Good premise and good performance. As others noted, waaaay too many words used to express the same thought or action. Still downloading the second one though.

Enjoyed the book, good story, needs a bit of polishing

The story was excellent, good sci-fi and fun. I do wish the author had spent a bit more time refining the story. As there are too many cheesy, minor details. Those details make the first part of the story Sound a bit wimpy and I was tempted to stop listening. Glad I didn’t, as the story evolved into something good, with real struggles to overcome.

Good Solid Story

I will admit, it took me a bit to get into this book, a few restarts at least - though this is NOT due to the reader Scott Aiello, he is my favorite male audiobook reader to date. I was browsing through the reviews of others and one had mentioned there’s a bit too much detail and I believe that is what caused my loss of interest so many times but after a certain point, IMO after locates the commander and his 2nd, it pulls you in and you can’t stop listening. Not that too much detail is bad, necessarily, but for the many ADHD/ADD listeners such as myself sometimes too much detail and not enough happening with the story causes us to lose interest in an otherwise fantastic story. Thankfully I made it past this and finished the book same day. The only downside is having to wait 5 more days for my new Audible credit :) Great job and thank you to Mr Falconer on laying down the basis of a great story that I look forward to continuing and Mr Aiello for bringing the story to life in a way only a good reader can.

Amazing this was offered 'free' to catch attention, was fantastic

Amazing this was offered 'free' to catch attention, was fantastic. I took the dare, delete button all warmed up if any sign of a bad taste. I had read Weir's book and liked it, this was along the same lines as to a single narration. From the start, apocalyptic beginnings, to the robot, the incoming ship of aliens (or not) then to the parrot, a great story. Held my interest the entire time and thus I placed it in that great change of pace category while remaining true to SF themes. Cannot wait to start the next in series.
