About this listen

AD 1320 - Madelayne Gray d'Ebreux is the queen of all that is lost. Her child, her husband...everything. Or, so she thinks. The same battle that killed her husband resulted in the serious injury of her husband's commander, Sir Kaspian St. Hever. As Kaspian lays badly wounded, Madelayne is asked to tend to the man in a most unconventional and intimate way. Instead of using her milk to nurse her child, who was born dead, she nurses a man who is forbidden solid foods because of a belly wound. And so, an unusual and sometimes erotic relationship develops between Madelayne and her patient.

Kaspian is tended by a woman who offers him her breasts as way of sustaining his life. At first, he looks at the situation as a necessity, but he soon comes to crave it. He struggles to keep his feelings from the widowed woman, but it becomes increasingly difficult. For a man who has known little compassion or kindness in his life, Madelayne comes to represent everything he has been missing. She soon becomes to represent everything he wants, and he wants her.

Join Madelayne and Kaspian on their journey through life, loss, lust, and passion in this adventure-packed and unconventional medieval romance. Can Madelayne finally change her stars with Kaspian's help?

Interesting

Would you consider the audio edition of Queen of Lost Stars to be better than the print version?

I did not read the book but enjoyed the audio.

What other book might you compare Queen of Lost Stars to and why?

I know nothing to compare it to. Much of the book's content is quite unique; like when Madelayne fed the knight with a stomach wound her mother's milk to keep him alive.

What does Brad Wills bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Hearing him read the book is like watching a movie or play. He has the ability to change the different character's voices so they are clearly identifiable. Each voice seems to fit the character portrayed. Brad Will's voice for Sir Kaspian St. Hever was excellent, as well as Madelayne Gray d'Ebreux's. The old healer's voice was irritating and sometimes hard to understand, but you certainly knew who it was when he spoke.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Both, laugh and cry.

Any additional comments?

There are some phrases and scenes that would be very improbable in 1320 AD, like "eye candy", etc. It didn't flow as well as some Le Vegue books, but still entertaining. Bottom line; it's a lot of entertainment in 8+ hours. Well worth a credit.

Kathryn Le Veque and Brad Wills are outstanding!

What a great story by Kathryn Le Veque and the narrating was out of this world! The story of loss, triumph and love woven by Ms Le Veque is so touching. Brad Wills voice for Kaspian St. Hever was so seductive, just WOW! Love this story and recommend.

Unusual Story But It's KLV

I was surprised with this story. It is very different in the way Madelayne and Kaspian's relationship develops. Even though KLV's book are historical romance and that is the common denominator, still the way KLV develops her stories are different and never boring. Once again this book will not disappoint.

This is the first audio e-book that I have listened

He is her protector, as she is his.

Brought together by necessity, and the love of a man lost to them both, these two people become united, although she is newly widowed and he is a stalwart commander of an English castle.
The face many trials together, bonded as they are. Even when tested those bonds don't waver.
An epic love story.

Finally an orignal historical connection

Would you consider the audio edition of Queen of Lost Stars to be better than the print version?

I did not read the print first. However I was intrigued by the idea of how the female lead would nurse the male lead. I belive the author glossed over the intimacy of the situation Of a young widow using that approach to nuring the lead male and the social issues many would have had in that time era

What other book might you compare Queen of Lost Stars to and why?

King arthur

What does Brad Wills bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I adore this actor! He really gave the characters life. Although the voice of the healer was a bit grating at times.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

A new classic

I can't get enough!!!

I could listen to Brad Wills telling Kathryn Leveque or Suzan Tisdale stories 24 hours a day for the rest of my life and be as happy as a lark! I have read over 50 of her books and listened to a couple now on Audible by this narrator. His portrayal of the characters is amazing! I'm certain Kathryn wrote this book with those exact voices in her head! I just loved the grumpy, but lovable physic! :-)
