My girls loved this!

Any additional comments?

I have two 4 years olds and a 6 year old. All girls and they loved these books. I would have them listen while we were in the car. I really enjoyed them getting excited for something that wasn’t on the tv.. The narrator did a great job with bringing each character to life.

Timeless, moral and significant to all children

Before toy story there was raggedy Ann. One of the earliest tales of toys coming to life, having adventures and learning life's important lessons. This collection of short stories will make for a great round of bedtime stories. Highly recommend. I received this audiobook from the author narrator or publisher for free via audiobookboom in exchange for an unbiased review

Sweet Adventures

Would you listen to Raggedy Ann Stories again? Why?

This was a sweet and fun collection of stories. I especially liked the opening of the book. It was a nice setup for Raggedy's adventures. The author had fun putting words to so many of our wonderings as a child about our dolls and toys.

Have you listened to any of Andrea Emmes’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is my second audiobook by Ms. Emmes. I really like her storytelling. These stories made me smile and wish I knew what happened to my own Raggedy.

Adorable

I loved how energetic the narrator was when reading it and my daughter and I really loved the different voices. This is my daughter's favorite book and she loved listening to this audiobook while snuggling with her Raggedy Ann doll.

Have you listened to any of Andrea Emmes’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, but it was nice to hear Andrea do a children's book.

Not the Stories I Remember

My grandmother told me many of these stories when I'd come and visit. So, I was looking forward to reconnecting with some pleasant memories. On the whole, I was not disappointed.

There's no mention of Raggedy Andy at all (let's just get that out of the way), but most of the stories hold up quite well despite their age (they are dated and may express dated attitudes/views). There's nothing revolutionary going on here, but overall they are fun and appropriate for all ages.

Andrea Emmes does a fine job narrating. Each voice is distinct and has its own personality. My only quip was with her interpretation of the Dutch boy who sounded more Russian than Dutch, but overall a distraction-free reading.

Not so kid friendly

I received this book free of charge in order to give an honest review. Sadly sitting with my two little girls I found listening to the stories to not be at all as kid friendly as I was hoping. There are a lot of big words used in the stories that confused my 5 year old and she kept interrupting to ask what it meant? Then there was the fact that Raggedy Ann seems to not be herself such a cuddly sweet dolly of my youth but a brain for the whole nursery of dolls. Didn't care for that! Also the author referred to the other dolls a lot as the Dutch doll or the French doll. My children are adopted and I felt it just kept pointing out their differences and sadly not allowing for them to be more like a family of dolls. It was really many stories and each of them had little lessons I guess you could say. But I did not care for the way it was read or portrayed in this audio. I also found the narrator to lack a happy child like quality that makes a book even a dull book come to life. I do not recommend this book.
