Publisher's summary

Following the USA Today best-selling author of Lost and Found Sisters comes Jill Shalvis' moving story of heart, loss, betrayal, and friendship.

Six months after Lanie Jacobs’ husband’s death, it’s hard to imagine anything could deepen her sense of pain and loss. But then Lanie discovers she isn’t the only one grieving his sudden passing. A serial adulterer, he left behind several other women who, like Lanie, each believe she was his legally wedded wife.

Rocked by the infidelity, Lanie is left to grapple with searing questions. How could she be so wrong about a man she thought she knew better than anyone? Will she ever be able to trust another person? Can she even trust herself?

Desperate to make a fresh start, Lanie impulsively takes a job at the family-run Capriotti Winery. At first, she feels like an outsider among the boisterous Capriottis. With no real family of her own, she’s bewildered by how quickly they all take her under their wing and make her feel like she belongs. Especially Mark Capriotti, a gruffly handsome Air Force veteran turned deputy sheriff who manages to wind his way into Lanie’s cold, broken heart - along with the rest of the clan.

Everything is finally going well for her, but the arrival of River Brown changes all that. The fresh-faced 21-year old seems as sweet as they come...until her dark secrets come to light - secrets that could destroy the new life Lanie’s only just begun to build.

Jill Shalvis and Karen White

Jill Shalvis and Karen White make a great team. Author and Narrator. it's at the point where I would rather do audio books and listen to Karen White narrate for Jill Shalvis than spend less to read a book.

A heartfelt and funny novel that warmed my heart

Rainy Day Friends is a heartfelt and funny novel that warmed my heart with its story of friendship, love, and family. The story flowed so naturally, never feeling rushed or slow - just perfectly paced. Right from the very first page, I was instantly captivated and my interest never dulled.

I simply loved the Capriotti family, but the characters that stole the show were Mark’s absolutely darling twin daughters, Samantha and Sierra. They were just to stinking cute!

Rainy Day Friends is the second book in the Wildstone series and it can be read as a stand-alone without being completely clueless. This was my first experience with reading Ms. Shalvis’ books, but I loved this one so much, I am going to read the first book in this amazing series very soon.

Although I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher for review, in the interest of time, I purchased the audio version so that I could ‘read’ in a timely manner. Karen White narrates this book, and she did an amazing job with all the characters – each one sounding unique. Her voice really brought the story to life.

Rainy Day Friends is the perfect lazy day read, and is definitely one you need to add to your reading list. Grab your wine, some cupcakes, have some tissues ready, and be prepared to spend all day in Wildstone!

Rainy Day Friends

This was such an enjoyable contemporary romance. It has a sympathetic heroine, a yummy hero (and his wonderful extended family) and a crazy plot. Karen White does a fantastic job with all voices. I really loved her performance.
If you love Jill Shalvis or if you're a fan of laugh-out-loud romance that will also tug your heartstrings you'll want to read Rainy Day Friends.

Nothing Better Than Jill Shalvis book

Seriously this book was another winner. How does Jill Shalvis come up with these amazing one liners.
I laughed (and it could have been book induced sleep deprivation) and cried, but mainly laughed.
Such a great book. So when is the next one going to be released?

Shalvis Never Disappoints

Jill Shalvis writes stories of love with such humor you just can't help smiling throughout the novel. I have to say the twin girls in this book make the story a 5 star story . The Capriotti family is a family I fell in love with. Excellent performance as well. Too many times a book is read and all the characters sound the same. Karen White does an excellent job. The story was so much fun.

A feel good read

This was such a fun sweet read with a bit of mystery/suspense thrown in, but what I really loved was how open this family was with their love for others. The Capriotti Family not only loves one another with a fierceness you can feel but they take in strays, people in desperate need of love and a helping hand, and loves them just as much.

There is much more to this story than the budding romance of Mark and Lanie, we get to know each of the Capriotti Family Members as well as a few of the "strays" they have taken in. I love this big family that is all up in everyone's business and doesn't hold mistakes against them. I have to admit that Marks daughters Sam and Sierra stole my heart, these two girls are absolutely adorable and Mark better watch out because they are going to be a handful when they become teenagers!

This was the first book in the Wildstone series that I read but I do plan on going back and reading the first book as well as continuing on with the series. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a feel good read that has a romance in it but isn't the main focus of it all. Happy Reading!

**I won an ARC paperback copy of this book through a giveaway on goodreads and I purchased the audiobook as well**

Whats the Fuss, Cute Stuff

As a long time fan of Ms Shalvis, and of course the great narrator Karen White, this book captures Southern Calif. Paso Robles winerys. You can feel the atmosphere while siting at a big picnic table for an outdoors lunch.
Ms White is Ms Shalvis best narrator eg Rumor Has It, and Then Came You. Top 5 star listens.
Since Ms Shalvis’s dad had passed, her dedication of this book shows her love of the area where he lived. Even in a time of sarrow, Ms Shalvis once again tells a tale of new beginnings and embracing the fun of living a good life.
Ms Shalvis has great wit and snarky humor, so if you are not in the mood to be entertained, then come back to this story another time.
The twins will steal your heart as does our hero when he is with them and when he picks up a crying screaming baby, hence my title. If you are a fan of author try Julie James Us series as
Ms White does that series so spot on, eg Love Irresistiblely, and I own all in that series.
Note: I do use the 1.25x speed to match the author’s intent.

One of my favorite authors but not my fav book

I love most Shalvis books! She has a knack for bringing you into a family, a small town, insecurity with hope, and darn good people. I loved this story and most of the characters. However, I just couldn’t understand Lainey’s hangups and her childish attitude. She just seemed stupid. Not just making poor decisions, like we all do. The character just rubbed me the wrong way and I didn’t feel for her. The other characters, all of them, were amazing!!
