About this listen

Don't miss this unforgettable New York Times best seller about sisters, loss, and the search for home that Library Journal calls "a hands-down winner"!

Lily Danville's life is crumbling around her. With no money and no home, her only choice is to go back to the one town she swore she'd never see again: Cedar Ridge, Colorado. Back to the memories of her sister's tragic death. Back to the place where, 10 years ago, she shared an unforgettable kiss with Aidan Kincaid-the man her sister once loved.

A new job at the town's hottest resort is just the fresh start Lily has been looking for...until she discovers the resort is owned by none other than the Kincaid family. How can she possibly see Aidan every day without feeling as if she's betraying her sister?

But as secrets from the past come to light and Lily starts to realize the truth, she can only hope it's not too late to find love, family, and forgiveness.

Decent story, not the right narrator

Almost couldnt get through it. Would have enjoyed it more with another narrator. Not Jill’s best, but decent story line

I want to move to Cedar Ridge!

After absolutely devouring the Wildstone series, I was super excited to read more from Jill Shalvis and her Cedar Ridge series seemed a perfect next step - it's features another small town setting and is also connected by the Kincaid siblings that each book features. While I didn't enjoy Second Chance Summer as much as any of the Wildstone books, I did still really like it. Not only do we get to meet the Kincaids and experience their fantastic familial relationships, we get low angst, great steam, and realistically complicated second-chance romance. I'll admit, the relationship did seem sort of low stakes, but it was still a fun ride and the Kincaids' antics are well worth the price of admission. I'm looking forward to getting Hudson's HEA next! 3.5 out of 5 wine glasses.

Returning home

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I like Jill Shalvis books and this is no exception. The story has good flow and a nice plot. The connection between the family members makes you want to hear all of their stories.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I think Lily , since she has human flaws (junk food addiction) and a really big heart.

What does Karen White bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She does a really good job of making you feel like different people are involved instead of just one person. Some narrator read the story and others put you in the story. She's one of the latter.

Good Listen...

If you could sum up Second Chance Summer in three words, what would they be?

Good Summer Listen

What did you like best about this story?

The love story plot was a little different than most romance.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

yes

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes, I couldn't wait to hear the whole thing, now I have to wait for the next. =(

Any additional comments?

I couldn't get over the fact that the narrator kept pronouncing Aiden as Hayden. It drove me crazy..

" Twig and Berries Swinging in the Wind"

What did you love best about Second Chance Summer?

Jill does it again! Good humor, but you have to be in the mood for it. This is an easy listen of family loyalty and taking care of one another.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the characters i.e. Mitch, gads his scenes were funny. Jonathan, "Lily Pad". All the brothers interaction when surrounded by humor were good. Author has a great way with simple words that paint a funny picture. I hope books #2 and #3 are just as funny.

What does Karen White bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

You can never get enough of Ms White as she is a great professional! Her males voices are as sexy as all the author's she reads intended them to be. She gets the nuances of a sexy male hunk. I did not buy the flood of books audible got from this author with a number of new readers. The reader samples were dull and seemed boring. Gads, audible and/ or author got smart and had Ms White read this series.See author Julie James for another great fun series. Ms White brings all the characters and fun to life. It was the Julie James series that got me hooked on this reader. Then on to this author

Good story … but…

So much potential… a good story and characters but do people actually live in a constant sex bubble ???
Is a little more realistic dialogue, conversation & better language to much to ask?🤷🏻‍♀️
It would make it so much more enjoyable for me and I’d feel like recommending to others.
