About this listen

Inquisitor Gideon Ravenor and his retinue are believed dead, and with shadowy forces moving against them, they'd like to keep it that way. Returning to the planet Eustis Majoris, they go undercover, investigating a brutal ring of smugglers moving stolen arcane technology within the Imperium.

As they descend deeper into the organisation, it becomes clear that a terrible plot is unravelling. The ancient machines contain the unthinkable, and Ravenor must summon all of his wits to thwart the conspirators before the ultimate secrets of Chaos itself are laid bare!

Story. Characters. Narration. Writing. All brilliant and fully engrossing pace and build up. Fantastic additions to the Eisenhorn novels

Really enjoy the world and the content but I find that they jump around without warning from side story to side story. Still enjoyable though but you have to be on top of listening.

How it's written

I’ve listened to all the Abnett series(Gaunt, Eisenhorn, etc) and I absolutely refuse to listen to anyone other than Toby Longworth. What and absolute masterful pairing. The overall story at work is magnificently crafted and the ending to this one will leave you with the chills and wanting to actually clap. It’s okay, go ahead, give them both a round of applause. They deserve it!!!!!

I see fit to write a review. Excellent. After listening to all of Eisenhorn and first book of Ravenor, I have to say that Abnett's writing is great, the best even. His plots and narratives keep you gripped. Longworth as a narrator absolutely is wonderful. Makes me wish to see the Inquisitor books in animated or live action some day.

Bravo Abnett and Longworth

The continuation of the Ravenor series does everything that the first book did so well, and then keeps on going! Toby Longworth kills it once again as the narrator, and the characters get a lot more time to shine and interact throughout the story. This was hard to put down from start to finish, and I cannot wait to start the next and final book of the Ravenor Trilogy before rereading the Eisenhorn and Bequin books - well worth the price of purchase, if you like the Inquisition at their best then this book is a must buy!
